It was a solemn mood when Rihanna paid tribute to her grandma, Dolly, today.
The “We Found Love” singer found herself at home in Barbados for her grandmother’s memorial service. Clara “Dolly” Brathwaite died in a Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York last month after losing a battle to cancer.
Along with the rest of her family, RiRi arrived at the service in a proper black gown. The dress hugged he slender figure and was cut at the knees.
Matching her dress were her black, open-toe heels and each ankle was fitted with a gold anklet.
Rihanna and her grandmother were close throughout her life and career. When she passed away earlier this month, she issued Dolly a public goodbye.
"Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you," Rihanna tweeted earlier this month.
It’s no surprise that the passing caused a whirlwind of emotions that took a toll on the singer’s tour. She displayed the void, putting on a shoddy performance at Sweden’s Peace & Love’s Music Festival.
For the set, the singer reportedly showed up 45 minutes late and put on a set that made her come off as drunk. Angry fans literally walked out on the performance.
Rihanna spent Father’s Day with Braithwaite at the hospital, cherishing every moment.
“I didn't wanna leave NY! I kept missing my flights,” she tweeted.
Luckily, she hasn’t had to face the heartbreak alone. Even people from her past love life with Chris Brown chimed in on Twitter.
"Angel May God Be With You And Your Family In Your Time Of Sorrow. Love You Angel," tweeted Joyce Hawkins, Brown’s manager/mom.
Breezy himself chimed in too upon hearing the news saying, “Praying for family and the lost loved one. She was like my grandmother. Love you GRAN GRAN! RIP.”
Our condolences go out to Rihanna and her family.
