Chris Brown to Rihanna: Assault Was a "Private Matter"

Rihanna
After Chris Brown assaulted and publicly humiliated Rihanna, she stayed mum for nine months. She didn't give a single interview, didn't bad mouth him and refused to address the issue. And that's just the way Chris liked it. But now that Rihanna has come forward and given the world details about the night she was assaulted, he's upset with her because he believes it should have been a "private matter."

"While I respect Rihanna's right to discuss the specific events of February 8," Brown says in a statement to MTV News, "I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us."

We're sure Rihanna would have loved to have kept the photo of her bruised and bloody face private too, but when you're a celebrity, nothing stays private for too long.

During Rihanna's interview with Diane Sawyer, she said Chris put her in a headlock twice and bit her on the ear and fingers. "He had no soul in his eyes," Rihanna said. "He was clearly blacked out. There was no person when I looked at him."

In his statement today, Brown continued, "I do appreciate [Rihanna's] support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions," he tells MTV.

"At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God."

After all that Rihanna's gone through, Chris really can't be upset with her for telling her side of the story. She spoke out about being abused hoping her message will help save other women who are also in an abusive relationship.

Rhianna should be every media outlet she can get herself booked on talking about what happened and how she didn't keep quiet and sought out the police. A lot of abused woman hide in shame, someone like Rhianna can put a positive face on this topic as a spokes person. If Chris Brown doesn't agree, too bad, he should of thought about that before he raised his hands to her!

That's what such men want, for women to just shut up and take it. I don't think so, jerk.

Why is this worthless little thug still a celebrity? These generic pop stars are interchangeable musically. So replace him with someone who doesn't brutalize women.

Reminds me of Jennifer Anniston an Angelina Jolie. They can bad-mouth her but she has to: SHUT HER MOUTH!!

It's really a difficult and enbarassing thing to speak out against someone that you've loved even if they've been abusive. As Rihanna says, you don't fall out of love immediately; it hurts a lot and it's very confusing and you blame yourself at times. I wish the hurt goes away and she finds someone to love who is worthy of her. So stop the hating, if you don't like her album then you don't have to buy it.

First off you people are pretty heartless. So what if her album is coming out and she did her interview. Your just hating cause you dont have what she as. Secondly, I'm dangerously in love and it was coming to the point of violence.(im only 20 just like her) I had to walk away for our safety and our futures. It hurts, its embarrsing, and lonely. So i totally understand her. I hope the best for her. i feel sorry for you heartless ones and i hope one day you will understand that we all our just human beings.

Not only did he speak first on Larry King but he also did a few radio interviews not to mention his youtube video. Then he has the audacity to give a statement to MTV following Rihanna's interview. He is the biggest douche out there right now far beating out Kanye West. Kanye just interrupted Taylors moment. He didn't beat the everloving shit out of her.
