Chris Brown Cops Plea Bargain

Chris Brown is off the hook. The singer just escaped jail time thanks to his lawyer Mark Geragos, and will instead serve 5 years of probation.

Hollyscoop was at the court house where Chris plead guilty for felony assault. The outcome of the plea bargain is:
  • Supervised probation for 5 years.
  • 180 days of community labor, like graffiti cleanup in his hometown of Virginia.
  • He must report back to court every three months for his supervised probation.
  • He must also enroll in a domestic violence counseling program, which will most likely be 52 sessions. One session per week.
  • Judge issued a stay away order, which means he must stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna, and he is not allowed to contact her.
  • Chris is ordered to return back to court on August 5th.
  • Rihanna was advised of the agreement in the district attorney's office at 12pm today, and didn't object to any of it.
  • According to Rihanna's lawyer, Rihanna didn't testify today because the plea bargain was reached before the preliminary hearing.
  • Rihanna will most likely agree to have the protective order reduced to a level one on August 5th as long as Chris does not annoy or harass her until that hearing.
  • The probation office in Virginia will give Chris options for his community labor, which will then have to be approved by a court in California.
  • Rihanna should not contact Chris, because if she contacted him, it would be a violation of his order.

Do you think Chris' sentence was fair? Is 5 years probation equivalent to the crime?

this sentence compared to jailtime fits the crime. Think about it...it may seem harsh to some but no matter what anybody says jailtime is a lot harsher, however more befitting. All I'm saying is that he is punished and this sentencing will test his true character. We'll now see whether or not his public apology was sincere if he can stand up to the limits of this sentence. That's a long time to pretend is he is pretending...only time will tell! I think if Rihanna settled for this then it wasn't his celebrity that got him off...it was her good graces that he got off...by Rihanna choosing not to testify may even be her way of admitting that she was wrong also instead of her coming out and saying it...perhaps she saw a way to be redeemed through his mistake so everyone wins...he got no jailtime and she got to save face. What do ya'll think?

Chris is young and has a chance to correct his anger problems, however, he has never taken responsibility for his actions..until he does that he will not grow..I just hope by some luck...his community service, anger managment clases he will change his ways...otherewise I don't think he will make it thru his probation..without another incident...he is a timebomb waiting to explode on another woman....

Eh.... I mean he is a celebrity so he got off easy. What else do you expect. But if it was a regular person they would be in jail right now. NOT FAIR!!!

I know that it is easy to say that he deserved more and he didn't get it beacause he's a celebrity, but I think his punishment is a lot harsher (rightfully so) than I was expecting.

ness01 I'm assuming you were there with them to know that. Chris had no injuries. Rihanna had the crap beat out of her. Hopefully the same won't happen to you one day so that you know what thats like.

A clear case of how money rules the system. This is just rediculous.

I knew he wouldnt get jail time!

we KNEW he wouldn't get jail time. People like him, that commit domestic violence, rarely get jail time. Especially for the 1rst offence. When he does it again, which most do unfortunately, maybe then...
