Catholic Cardinal Slams Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin's recent baby news isn't exactly joyous for everyone. While Ricky is just getting used to diaper duty, a Catholic Cardinal in Honduras is criticizing his life choices.

Latino Cardinal of Honduras Oscar Andres Rodriguez is accusing Ricky Martin of going against human dignity. To refresh your memory, Martin just fathered twin boys with the help of a surrogate mother.

The Cardinal says, "What Martin did diminishes the dignity of a human being. You can't just buy or rent life. It's even worse when someone famous and in the public eye is doing it."

Not only that, but now Mexican talk show host Esteban Arce is chiming in, saying, "I don't think it's right to deny children of maternal figures, just because you have a big ego."

Is it just us, or our these guys missing the point here?! Ricky Martin wanted to be a father, and now he is. He pretty much stays out of the public eye, and minds his own business, so we think people should do the same.

So what??? if my friend fathered two angels with a surrogate mom???Who are these Catholic Cardinals to judge us. If we choose to have children without a mom, so what the heck???Look at the world, there's a lot of children with no moms and dads???Look at these cardinals they are living a prosperous and privileged life.!!! Why not give your money to these poor, underpriviledged children??? By the way, Vatican is one of the richest countries in the world...Thanks to our donations!!!

Children are a gift from God, they are not a "right". It doesn't matter how badly someone wants children, they do not have a "right" to them. I personally would dearly love to have many more children. But I will not claim a "right" to have them. I will pray to God that He grant me the gifts. If He refuses, I am to accept His judgement with loving grace.

DXL, I hope you have no children...that would just be so very, very wrong. Those willing to go through the horrendouse process of IVF, etc., clearly want a child, someone they can PARENT. Anyone can be a biological spawner but not everyone can be a reliable, loving, PARENT. So much righteousness. Sad. Sad. Sad.

This process is used all the time for same sex partners and other people who cannot have children. And it is wrong for those people too.

I think we will see more and more men having children by surrogates because they are tired of losing their children in divorce proceedings. These children will be well loved by Ricky and his extended family and friends. He has shown that he loves children by all his charitable work on their behalf.

People are so stupid and ignorant, this process is used all the time for same sex partners, people who cannot have children. Just because he is famous does not give them the right to judfe him. Children grow without a mother figure everyday and there is nothing wrong with that because a father can provide just as much love as a mother can.
