In Hollywood, nothing is official until a celebrity’s rep confirms it. I don’t care if Reese Witherspoon’s baby bump is twice the size of Jessica Simpson’s whole body, if she doesn’t send out a press release, she could just be very
Witherspoon looks like she’s about to pop, and now she’s finally acknowledging that she’s pregnant.
Reese was in Chicago on Saturday night for the “An Evening With Reese Witherspoon” event where she was being honored with the Renaissance Award and when a reported told her how great she looked, she joked, “Thanks, but frankly I’m feeling very round tonight.”
And then, like all pregnant women before her, she made a quip about being insatiably hungry.
“I’m always feeling like I’d like to eat everything in sight!” says the actress.
And while those are two very pregnant-y things to say, she finally admitted during the Q&A portion of the evening’s gala, “I’m going to take a little time off – and go have a baby.”
She then revealed that she’s “very excited” for the baby, who’s expected to arrive in late summer of early fall.
As for the rest of “An Evening With Reese Witherspoon,” she dished on her upcoming film projects, her career, and working with Alexander Payne, who directed her in “Election” and moderated the night’s Q&A.
“Alexander was a big champion for me early on,” says Witherspoon, “he said, ‘That’s the girl I want in my movie,’ so I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for him. And we’ve subsequently become very close friends.”
She also talks about the movie she’s currently working on in Atlanta with Colin Firth. It’s called “Devil’s Knot” and “it’s about a crime that occurred in 1993,” says the actress, “It happened in Arkansas, and it’s what I’d say is a very American story.”
