Reese Witherspoon: Divorce Was Traumatic, Relieved to be Married

While she may seem like Hollywood's sweetheart with a naturally unfurrowed brow without the assistance of botox, Reese Witherspoon says her divorce from Ryan Phillippe and being a single mother for 5 years was "really traumatic."

Reese covers the October Issue of Marie Claire and reveals her 2006 divorce from Ryan Phillippe left her and their two children Ava, 12 and Deacon, 7 1/2 very stressed.

"I was hard on myself when I got divorced. And until I got remarried, I don't think I realized how stressed I was. I feel so much relief. I don't think I recognized how anxious I was about being a single parent. It was really, really stressful. It's not easy on anybody."

If she was feeling those things, she sure wasn't showing it. Witherspoon is 35 but honestly could pass for 21. Make her play Miley Cyrus's best friend in a movie and I would believe it.

Reese married Hollywood talent agent Jim Toth in March, but said she was scared she would never find a man who would accept a single mother with two kids.

"You know, somebody close to me once said, "Oh, no man will ever accept your children.' And I just thought it was the most horrifying thing someone has ever said to me in my entire life," says Reese.

I hope that whoever said that is unmarried and living with 1000 cats. Who says that to a person?

But Reese is so lucky she found Toth, "I was determined to find someone who would make that not true. And I got lucky. I did. I got very lucky, and he's wonderful. And so wonderful with the children. I'm very blessed."

"Now I feel a great sense of relief and an incredible amount of support from my husband," says Reese.

A lot of people don't know that Reese Witherspoon married Phillippe when she was 23 years old and had her first child that same year. When the rest of twenty-something Hollywood was stumbling in and out nightclubs and flashing their crotches while climbing out of limos, Reese was raising two kids. And then to do all that as a single mom, yah, I'd say that's pretty stressful. I can't even keep a plant alive or figure out how to use the blue tooth on my phone.

You go Reese Witherspoon! You go to Harvard Law and you raise those kids and you get that man! Girl power and egalitarian marriages WOOO!
