Redmond O'Neal
Redmond O'Neal’s lawyer is trying to get him out of the slammer. Attorney Richard Pintal is lobbying to get his client transferred from prison into a residential treatment facility.

Sources tells Radar, "The goal is to permit transition to a non-custody regiment of recovery."

The insider continues, "Redmond is doing very well, but there is only so much that can be done in the treatment program behind bars."

Redmond has been in custody since he was arrested for possession of heroin last spring. O'Neal is currently at Pitchess Detention Center where he is enrolled in a stringent inmate recovery program. His next court appearance is set for September 18th.

In related news, Redmond’s lawyer says rumors of his client doing a reality show are “100% false."

Well that’s good news! We’re not sure we’re in favor of Redmond being released so soon. He needs to learn his lesson the hard way!

When will our society quit being such a bunch of punishment junkies? We're just as addicted to revenge as Redmond is to heroin. It sounds as if he has done well with what limited therapy can be offered in prison, but sick people need hospitals. Not prisons. Was his mother ever put into the slammer for having cancer?
