Taylor Armstrong Responds to Estranged Husband's Death

The day after her estranged husband's apparent suicide, Taylor Armstrong has issued a statement via her rep. Taylor's publicist tells Hollyscoop:

"Taylor Armstrong is devastated by the tragic events that have unfolded. She requests privacy at this time so that she may comfort her young daughter. Her thoughts and prayers are also with Russell’s 11 and 13 year old sons."

Despite their divorce proceedings, this is undoubtedly a difficult time for all of those close to Russell Armstrong, including Taylor. His attorney, Ronald Richards, has also spoken out about his client's untimely death.

"I'm very shocked by this," Richards told PEOPLE. "Besides being upset about his divorce and its effect on his kids, he didn’t show any outward signs of depression."

Maybe not, but according to Richards himself, Armstrong was not only struggling in his marriage, but with his finances as well.

"Russell was a guy who always had multiple business deals going at all times," Richards says. "He was a good networker. But as a couple, they lived way beyond their means."

The lawyer added that "each month was a challenge for him to cover their lifestyle."

All in all, it sounds like the couple was drowning in debt to maintain a materialistic lifestyle.

Russell was also apparently in "a lot of debt and he had legal problems. His credit cards were used up. He had serious financial problems. And that no doubt caused him a lot of stress."

A source close to Taylor and Russell reveals that he was incredibly stressed during his last days:

"He was depressed," the source says. "He had a lot going on these past few months. The split from Taylor was a long time coming but it still took a big toll on him. He had no money; he was failing in business. It all added up."

Still, Richards blames Armstrong's stress on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

"When his wife and him first started the show, I warned them that it would cause undue stress on their marriage," he tells PEOPLE. "Being thrust in the spotlight didn't do any favors for Russell and Taylor."
Bravo has said in a statement:

" All of us at Bravo are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Our sympathy and thoughts are with the Armstrong family at this difficult time."

Taylor spent Saturday afternoon at the Fiat and Voli Light Vodka sponsored house in Malibu with fellow 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star Adrienne Maloof.
Taylor spent most of the day hanging with friends, and arrived alone. She was there from 3pm until the late hours of the night. She and Adrienne spoke of their kids and getting together soon to lunch and talk about all that has been going on in their life within the past few weeks.

Eyewitnesses at the house tell Hollyscoop Taylor appeared to be very down. Adrienne brought all three of her children and they played in the sand as a family. Dr. Paul Nassif and Adrienne were overheard talking to Taylor inviting her over for dinner to spend some time as friends. Adrienne expressed that she lives close to Taylor and understands that Taylor has and is going through a rough time.
