We saw this coming for awhile now, but it appears to be official. According to People, Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen have officially ended their engagement.

Just last month, Hollyscoop reported that the two had broken up, or as they put, "were taking a break."

But just weeks later, it appears the split is permanent. "Yes, the engagement is off," Bilson's rep explained, but didn't offer up any further details on the breakup.

Sources say however that distance was reportedly one of the main reasons for the split. With Bilson primarily in L.A., and Christensen in Canada, "It just wasn't working out," says a friend of the actress.

Now Bilson is "focusing on her career, spending time with her family and just moving forward," adds the friend.

As for Christensen, he was most recently spotted with actress Sophie Monk. The two were seen leaving LA hotspot Boulevard 3 after the Takers premiere last week.

We hate to say it, but it's a little bit of a downgrade!

How I Met Your Mother has just lined up a sexy new guest star! Rachel Bilson, who has been more focused on fashion lately than acting, is set to join the cast of the hysterical comedy.

If you’re a fan of the show, this is a very important part! EW reports that Rachel has landed the infamous “mother” role. Yes, as in the one mentioned in the title!

Last month, exec producer Craig Thomas told EW that the 100th episode would feature “some serious mother action,” adding, “It’ll be the closest Ted’s ever come to [discovering who she is]. He’s getting a step closer every episode this season, and episode 100 [we] kind of go bananas with it.”

Apparently the producers went back and forth for a while trying to cast this role. Bilson’s rep says she’s only signed on to do one episode at this point. Congrats to Rachel!

Poor Rachel Bilson! She’s fallen victim to thieves! Her home in Los Angeles was burglarized within the last few weeks while she has been in Canada with her fiancé Hayden Christensen.

Rachel’s mom was the one who discovered the place had been ransacked when she happened to stop by the house. There was no obvious sign of forced entry, and sources say the police are investigating the matter.

A friend of Rachel’s tells People, "She's shaken. She feels violated."

Not only did the burglars take big things like a television, but they dipped into her wardrobe as well. And if you know Rachel, you know she takes pride in her fashion.

Her friend went on to say, "They stole all her designer labels – shoes, clothes, bags … She collected a lot of vintage shoes – she's a size 5 – and they took them all. Her jewelry, including some handed down to her by her grandmother. Fashion is her passion. She's devastated."

They’re estimating a loss of tens of thousands of dollars. Bilson's rep confirmed the break-in, but had no official comment. What an awful thing to have happened! And we’re betting Rachel had a decent security system on the house, so those burglars knew exactly how to get in.

Rachel Bilson has stepped out of the limelight recently. She’s still with Hayden Christiansen, and the two just built a farmhouse up in Ontario Canada. But we hear that a studio is going into the house as well.

The NY Daily News reports that Rachel will be hosting her own cooking show right from her new kitchen! Who knew she could even cook? Rachael Ray better watch out, cuz there’s a younger, much cuter Rachel stepping in!

That’s a far cry then how we’re used to seeing Rachel Bilson, but ever since she and Hayden became an item after filming Jumper, they seem a little sick of the Hollywood life. Having their new place will be a great getaway for them, and if everything goes according to plan, a new job for Rachel!
