The Royal Family Going Broke Is the Exact Same Plotline as ‘Downton Abbey’

We’ve heard this sob story before.

Well, what do you know…the royal family is allegedly going broke. Just like the Crawleys.

According to a report by British lawmakers released today, Queen Elizabeth had to dip into her reserves after overspending on their budget.

Britain’s Queen only has $1.6 million left in her financial reserves.

For the sake of comparison, in 2001 the royals had $58 million in reserves.

A bulk of that money is spent on staff wages and maintaining the palace, and now they can barely afford all that.

What will happen to the real-life Carson and Hughes?!

Apparently the royals have been biting off more than they can chew.

The Public Accounts Committee is calling the number “historically low.”

Their poor financial planning has put the family in serious disarray.

They were given $51.4 million in taxpayer money last year and overspent by $3.8 million.

This is the worst time this could happen, considering someone just had a very royal baby.

How familiar...

And they have nowhere to run.

How will the royals pull themselves out of this one? Guess we’ll have to tune in to the new season of "Downton Abbey" to find out since this story is practically the same thing.

Even without money, we're sure the Queen, like Lord Grantham’s mother, won’t change her attitude.

She always finds a way, doesn’t she?
