Pushing Daisies

It's tough to be a TV show right now. If you're not getting even decent ratings these days, you're canceled. And Pushing Daisies might be the next show to get the axe. The production has already wrapped, and now they're just playing the waiting game.

Show creator Bryan Fuller doesn't even know the fate of his show. He says, "Every day we're hearing that we're canceled and then we hear that we're not. It's all rumors. Nothing official at all. We are in radio-silence land."

But Fuller insists the cast and crew are staying positive. "It's tough but spirits have been really good on the set," Fuller said. "There's such a dedication with the cast and crew. It's infectious and we're hoping ABC gets infected by that dedication."

Would you miss the show if it was canceled?
Pushing Daisies @ 8pm
The weirdest crime procedural on television (and considering the amount of competition, that's saying something) springs back to life with more murder mysteries, colorful characters and G-rated romance between Ned and Chuck, the soul mates who can't even touch each other. The Season 2 premiere finds Chuck acting as the lead investigator when she goes undercover at a honey-based cosmetics company. And Olive lands in an even stickier situation when she learns an astonishing secret from Lily, who tries to lock her away in a nunnery in order to ensure her silence.

Private Practice @ 9pm
The fact that Addison's workplace is the Oceanside Wellness Clinic calls to mind the 1963 Jan and Dean hit "Surf City," where there were "two girls for every boy." Sure enough, that's what lucky Cooper can look forward to with Charlotte and Violet as the second season opens. But for Sam and Dell, who are fighting for Naomi, it's the other way around. The same might be said for Pete, who had ratcheted down to "friends" with Addison when police officer Kevin Nelson (David Sutcliffe) arrived on the scene. We'll see how that one plays out. Meanwhile, the clinic's going broke.

Bones @ 8pm
In the real world, we're waist-deep in the middle of one doozy of a campaign season. But over in TV land, Brennan and Booth are diving into the petty and vindictive pool of corporate politics when the mangled corpse of a power-hungry office manager is found in an elevator shaft. It seems that grudges die hard in this ruthless environment, and it's up to our dynamic duo to push the right buttons to see who's going down.

Dirty Sexy Money @ 10pm
The series about the troubles of the fabulously wealthy returns for a second season, and Lucy Liu joins the cast as the mysterious Nola Lyons. As for the Darlings, they're engaging in one of their favorite pastimes: partying. The occasion for the celebration is Nick's birthday, and Tripp and Letitia throw him an elaborate bash on a yacht. But it's not all fun and games, as tragedy strikes the clan when a death occurs, followed by an arrest.

Pushing Daisies @ 8pm
All relationships have their ups and downs. After Chuck learns of a secret Ned has been keeping from her, the pie-maker sees his romance take the proverbial nosedive. In the meantime, Emerson tries to get Ned's mind off Chuck in order to focus on the case of a frozen insurance adjuster. Thrown into the mix is Paul Reubens, reprising his role as scent expert Oscar Vibenius. Oscar is setting his sights, or more accurately his smell, on finding out why Chuck's aroma is so unique.

America's Next Top Model @ 8pm
The ninth cycle of the series comes to a close tonight, with Tyra and the judges picking a winner from the final three: Chantal, Jenah and Saleisha. First, the trio shoots a CoverGirl commercial, after which one of them is eliminated. The two remaining gals then go head-to-head in a Seventeen magazine cover shoot and walk their final runway in Beijing. So, who is going to win? My money is on Saleisha. Early on, Tyra said she showed promise but just needed some refinement. Tyra loves the winner to be someone she helped groom, as opposed to someone like Chantal, who seems to have natural modeling ability.

Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants @ 9pm
This new reality show takes stage mothers and puts them where they rightfully belong, up on the stage as co-contestants. Mothers compete alongside their adult daughters as teams in an eight-week beauty pageant. They don swimsuits and evening gowns, perform talent routines, and explain their dreams of things like world peace to celebrity judges Carson Kressley, Shanna Moakler and Cynthia Garrett. Tonight they try making good first impressions on the judges — after sizing up the competition. It all adds up to double the fun and double the catfights of your typical reality show...only for true die-hard reality fans!

Project Runway @ 10pm
Last week contestant Chris suggested that Project Runway should have an official perfume. The fragrance: a mixture of tears, sweat and Chinese food. A pungent stench certainly permeated the workroom, as the remaining designers worked with outdated wardrobe trends, and catty tension escalated, particularly between Ricky and Victorya. But it was mirthful Chris, our old perfume friend, who was the worse for his wear and was booted. Will it smell like mean spirit in tonight's episode? Here, the gang embarks on a challenge involving seamless fashion transformation — and it appears a major drama surrounds Jack.

ABC has another hit show to add on its plate, “Pushing Daisies”. The show is about a man named Ned who has the ability to bring the dead back to life. We caught up with the cast in Las Vegas for the opening of Planet Hollywood and chatted with them about their shows success. Check out the video.

I was never into Molly Shannon because she only ever really plays one of two characters: a spastic, loud person with a weird physical tic (i.e. SNL's Mary Catherine Gallagher) or a soft-talker with a freaky streak. I kept waiting for her to sniff her armpits or kick above her head but it never happened. She was at a personal best last night as a vindictive taffy maker/bird attack survivor.

It's going to be a long two weeks waiting for another episode after last nights episode of Pushing Daisies. When a resurrected girl uses flour and a fruit roll-up to extract fingernails from a marble countertop, you know it's going to be a good night for TV watching.

Olive's obliviousness to the passionate advances of a traveling salesman, while engrossing and poignant, were not enough to distract attention from the weird Klingon head of Chi McBride. Seriously, are they just weird wrinkles or was there a skull fracture? And Ned must have had head trauma to think that it was a good idea to tell Chuck that he killed her father. He didn't even give any context-- "it was an accident" or "he made me do it" or "i thought he was a burglar"-- just flat out said, "I killed your dad." Next week we'll see that she takes the news so hard that she runs away and starts keeping company with Pee Wee Herman (Paul Reubens gueststars).

Pushing Daisies @ 9pm
From Mary Katherine Gallagher to Sally O'Malley, Molly Shannon's characters always seem like they're ready to go off at any second. There's a good chance that's why she was tapped to play devious taffy-shop owner Dilly Balsam in tonight's episode. Bent on driving Ned and the Pie Hole out of business, Dilly is aided by her brother Billy Balsam, played by actor-writer-director Mike White. A family dynamic shouldn't be too hard for the pairing to pull off: They recently collaborated on the White-helmed indie comedy Year of the Dog

Gossip Girl @ 9pm
Think Thanksgiving is so last week? Think again. Tonight there will be turkey, cranberries and an extra helping of awkwardness when Rufus and Lily find themselves sharing a meal together, thanks to Dan's generous but naive gesture of extending a Thanksgiving invitation to Serena's family. But the Archibald family dinner may prove to be even more uncomfortable, as Nate now has to face his parents after he ruined their plans by breaking up with Blair. Meanwhile, Blair will be dining on disappointment when she finds out her dad won't be coming home for Thanksgiving. Ahh geez...thank gosh the holidays only come once a year!

America's Next Top Model @ 8pm
Six girls were left on ANTM last week as the gang went off to China. As the girls packed their bags for the trip, Bianca once again laid into Heather. She just can't leave that girl alone! She said she was tired of all the girls having to act like Heather's mother but she seems to be the only one who brings it up. At judging I have to say I was expecting a more harsh reaction from the panel regarding Bianca's refusal to participate in the challenge especially since she wasn't even afraid during the gargoyle photo shoot. Of course Heather's performance was awful even when she got the special treatment from Mr. Jay but to me, an outright refusal to participate is far worse. Tonight the five remaining models visit designers in Shanghai; Nigel Barker directs the photo shoot that includes Chinese costume dragons and lions.

Pushing Daisies @ 8pm
There are few actors better equipped to slip into the surreal comedic world of this series than Paul Reubens. So it's a perfect fit when the man known for playing Pee-wee Herman shows up in tonight's episode as Oscar Vibenius, a renowned scent expert. Oscar is more than a little concerned when his assistant is found dead from an apparent scratch-and-sniff-book explosion. Lucky for him, Ned, Chuck and Emerson are on the case, looking to uncover the identity of this brazen book bomber.

America's Next Top Model @ 8pm
The overseas-travel episode is always one of the season's highlights. Tonight the six remaining models fly to China and move into a ritzy Shanghai penthouse. After body-movement lessons by a martial-arts expert, the gals pose in midair on high wires. Sounds tough, but that's nothing compared to shooting a cosmetics commercial in which the ladies must not only look fabulous but also speak well. And after last week, fans know that isn't one of Heather's strengths. Let's cheer her on and hope she gets it together!

Project Runway @ 10pm
"Life is too short to have on a bad outfit." Those enlightened words of wisdom, spoken by contestant Kit "Pistol" Scarbo in last week's season opener, kind of crystallize the essence of this series, really. Last week, life was too short for Simone, a likable woman failed in the season's very first elimination challenge. Rami proved he really worthy of making Jessica Alba a dress. He is def. a top contender, expect to see him on the finale runway. Tonight the designers meet a major fashion icon as they continue their epic quest to create great outfits. Because, hey, life is too short.

Dirty Sexy Money @ 10pm
If Lisa doesn't leave Nick by the end of the season, then she'll officially become the most understanding spouse on television. That becomes clearer every week, and tonight's episode is no different with Nick being hustled out of his own family's Thanksgiving festivities to handle Darling business. The urgent job involves setting up a meeting between Tripp and Simon Elder, but that doesn't mean Letitia won't use the opportunity to help Karen try to seduce Nick. Then there's the opposite of Lisa — Patrick's not-so-understanding spouse. She's demanding a meeting with his transsexual mistress.

On a show that’s about bringing dead people back to life, everyday is like Halloween, but Pushing Daisies managed to up the ante and make last night's show especially fun with a masked horseman in black, a human with horse-leg transplants, and a cracked tomb.

In last night's episode, Ned, Olive and Chuck look into a promising jockey's mysterious death after the jockey's rivals start showing up dead.

The real excitement of the story was in this living/dead love triangle that's starting to form between Ned, Olive, and Chuck, Ned's dead girlfriend. Olive's feelings for Ned are getting harder to keep under wraps.

Last night, Ned saved her from being crushed by a horse and she gave him a pretty passionate kiss. It's clear that Ned's heart belongs to Chuck but the question that the next episode might be asking is, For how long?

"Pushing Daisies" has been such a success that ABC has decided to pick up the show for the remainder of the season.

The show has averaged a 3.9 rating/11.1 million viewers among adults 18-49 after just three airings.

It wasn’t such an easy road for “Pushing Daisies” as they had a lot of budget issues in the beginning and at one point the big shots asked executive producer Barry Sonnenfeld not to return for any more segments.

Fortunately however, everything seems to be peachy these days and that’s why they asked Sonnenfeld to come back to shoot more episodes.

If you haven’t seen the show, it is about a man who has the power to bring the dead back to life with the touch of his hand - unless he touches them again, at which point they return permanently to death - works with a private detective to query murder victims about who killed them. He finds himself in trouble when he revives a deceased woman who turns out to be his childhood love.

The show airs Wednesday’s at 8 p.m. on ABC so check it out!
