If you are reading this, I am sure you are pretty familiar with the internet. Most of you out there use Myspace, Gizmo.NET, Facebook, Instant Messaging, visit Chat rooms and the list goes on. Nowadays, instant messaging on the computer has become the phone for the average American and especially children. Many children spend hours chatting online with their friends and sometimes with strangers. A recent study found that one in five children online is approached by a sexual predator, a predator who may try to set up a face to face meeting and who knows what else .
In all honestly I have seen wide coverage about this on Oprah, Dateline and the evening news and it really makes me sick. I am not a parent, but I do have younger cousins and I would hate for one of them to be a victim. While watching the evening news a story about a local company that has developed a software application called 'PC Pandora' which has been featured on various news channels, talk shows and newspapers.
PC Pandora is designed to provide parents with an important tool in the ongoing fight against online predators and other Internet hazards. This software has TIVO-like features that allows parents to record, review, and play back everything their children do online, including the capture of all their logins, passwords, instant messages, emails, and every web site visited. Communication between a teenager and an online predator can be captured and turned over to the authorities before it's too late. You can even be automatically notified via email to your work place of any chats your child might be having with a predator.
If any of you have children or know anyone who does, I would highly recommend PC Pandora which could be found at www.pcpandora.com. Isn't the online safety of your children worth the cost of a single dinner out?
