When you're royalty, you can plan a very extravagant wedding in practically no time. The phrase "we're booked on that day" doesn't apply, there is no guest limit and best of all, there's no such thing as a budget.
Kate Middleton has been a busy little bee checking out different venues and meeting with different planners for the royal wedding. And she's has company too--she already has two security guards following her around 24/7 rotating shifts.
We hear Kate and Prince William are gunning for an April wedding, possibly April 28th and according to insiders it's going to cost roughly $20 million.
Some insiders insist the Liberal Democratic Party might force the date to be pushed back amid fears a ceremony at the end of April would infringe on coverage of the voting system referendum three days later on May 1. Expect an announcement soon on that date, but let's go back to the $20 mil price tag.
"When all is said and done, this wedding will likely cost the British taxpayers over $20 million dollars," a royal insider tells Popeater. "It will be the biggest wedding of all time, even bigger than William's mum, Diana's -- and the price will be bigger, too."
So far the celebrity couple that holds the record for most expensive wedding was Liza Minnelli and David Gest. They said "I Do" to a $3.5 million wedding in 2002. They said I don't 16 months later.
With a $20 million dollar wedding, it's a good thing Kate and Prince William aren't allowed to divorce!
