Prince William. biography
Born Prince William Arthur Philip Louis Windsor on June 21, 1982, in London, England, His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales is the eldest son of late Princess Diana and Prince Charles. He attended the prestigious Eton College where he excelled in academics and sports. Despite his parents' divorcing and his mother's untimely death in 1997, William proved to be destined for his role within the royal family by always being well mannered and composed.
In 2005, William graduated from Scotland's St. Andrew's University with a degree in geography, before joining the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as cadet and becoming a second lieutenant in the Household Cavalry in 2006. Two years later, he was named a Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter. He has also carried on his mother's charity legacy and continues to find ways to give back to the community.
While attending St. Andrew's University, William met his non-royalty, future-wife Kate Middleton and the two quickly found their love life plastered across headlines. Rumors of an engagement soon followed, but the couple surprised the world when they broke up in April 2007. Though technically separated, the two were seen vacationing and attending events together on multiple occasions. Although the couple's engagement was announced on November 16, 2010, William asked Kate to marry him in October with his mother's engagement ring.
On April 29, 2011, the royal couple got married at Westminster Abby, followed closely by baby rumors. On December 3, 2012, St. James Palace announced that the two were expecting their first child:
"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news."
