Last night 70,000 people took their seats at London's Wembley Stadium for a concert which helped celebrate the life of the “Peoples Princess”, Lady Diana. The benefit concert was organized by her sons Princes William and Harry which also marked what would have been her 46th birthday.
If you missed the show, no worries we have the scoop for you. One of our favorite acts was Elton John who took the stage twice, as he opened and closed the show. Elton was a good friend of Diana’s and played “Candle in the Wind”, the same song he sang to Diana during her funeral.
Another act we enjoyed was Nelly Furtado who even made the Princes shake their hips. Prince William addressed the crowd, "this evening is about all that my mother loved in life: her music, her dance, her charities and her family and friends."
Soccer ace David Beckham also took the stage as he introduced “Take That”. Other acts included Diana’s favorite acts including Duran Duran and Tom Jones. Among the 24 performances were songs by Rod Stewart, Kanye West, Joss Stone, Lily Allen and Sean "Diddy" Combs, who performed Missing You". At one point Diddy said, "Ten years ago Princess Diana, she went to a better place, and today we celebrate her rebirth.""I love you Diana, we miss you."
After the show P Diddy rocked on as he threw a party at London’s Paper nightclub. He told the UK Sun, “There’s no way I could out-party Prince Harry. I’ve heard he’s very good at it. I’m here to have a celebration — a celebration of Diana’s life.”
Back to the event, at the venue William's former girlfriend Kate Middleton also made an appearance which made many wonder if they are back together. Harry’s girl Chelsy Davy sat next to the Prince and even planted a kiss on him. Prince Harry even took the effort to give a shout out to those he would have been serving alongside in Iraq had he been able to go. "I wish I was there with you. I'm sorry I can't be. To you and everyone on operations we'd both like to say stay safe."
The concert ended with the Princes thanking everyone who was apart of this extravaganza. William told the crowd, "for us, this has been the most perfect way to remember and this is how she would want to be remembered."
Indeed it was a wonderful concert and at many times made us emotional. Check out one of our favorite acts of the night from Canadian pop star Nelly Furtado.
