Barbra Streisand Slams John McCain's Pick For VP

September 02, 2008

Barbra Streisand is putting in her two sense when it comes to John McCain's pick for Vice President.

Babs, who is a longtime Democrat, is reportedly very angry with his choice, saying that he only did so to reel in the voters who were excited about the possibility of having Hillary be the first female president.

In her blog, entitled McCain doesn't get it: Women are not that stupid, Streisand writes, "It sent a very clear message to America about how he views female voters. I believe John McCain chose Gov. Palin because he truly believes that women who supported Hillary - an experienced, brilliant, life-long public servant - would vote for him because his Vice President has two x chromosomes."

Do you agree with Barbra's logic?

All of you are so scared, how can you say anything about Palin have you not looked at Obama! That's who you should be afraid of. Thank you God I have the good sense not to look at Barbara for political advice...What a sad pitiful group of "yellow dog democrats" For those who dont know. If a yellow dog ran you would vote for it!!!

Good for you Lisa and all the people who thought the same. Gov Palin is young, strong, intelegent and definitly has a mind of her own. Sen McCain reconized that and saw a way to include a fresh new face for his 4 years as our NEXT president. Babra, you have been my idol for 40+ years but I'm tired of defending your left wing politics. Keep acting and singing, ONLY!

Babs is dead on the money. She is speaking the truth. I also appreciate Babs giving Hillary the credit that she deserves for her lifetime of hard work and devotion to the American people.

Her family values? She has a family, takes responsiblity for them and what they do,is proud of them and not hiding whatever personal mistakes any one of them has made. And it is insulting to insinuate that women are stupid to like Palin...yes, she is a woman, but women should not have endorsed Hillary just because she is a woman, but because she is an intelligent leader. That is exactly why I endorse Palin, she is a wonderful, refreshing and qualified VP candidate. Is Ms. Streisand threatened by the idea that a republican has chosen someone who is both female and qualified...are the Dems supposed to have an exclusive on that?

Interesting to see McCain kissing and hugging Palin. How will that sit with the spouses?? Barbra is right, afaic. All of a sudden, everyone knows Sarah Palin ... gee, even McCain met her once before asking her to run with him. Look at Palin's background, folks. Not that most of us are pure as the driven snow, but where are Palin's family values? What is her religious background? Scary, if you ask me!! Be VERY aware of what your do on Voting Day. We've already been in the mud for too many very expensive and deadly years.

Barbara is rediculous. Her statements are ignorant and sexist. Maybe the reason McCain chose Palin was because of everything she has accomplished as governor and the freshness she adds to his campaign! The fact that Barbara would diminish this woman's accomplishments disgusts me. Maybe BABS needs to wake up on her left wing high horse and realize that her comments are hypocritical and contradict her "point".

Barbara...as much as you have a Constitutional right to your opinion, and I'll stand here ready to defend that right...I have to take umbrage to your sexist statement. I am an educated...woman. As one...I look at all the issues (without hysteria) and all persons running for a given offic with an even eye. I've never voted a straight party ticket in my life. This is...simply due to the fact that NOT ALL in one political party are suitable to actually do the jobs that they have chosen to run for. I live in WA State and up here...we're very impressed with Sarah Palin's actions and credentials...as well as her no nonsense approach to whatever she does. Did she hide any of what the news media is now creating as blemishes??? NO. Sarah even came up with all this information...before McCain chose her for his VP. I have a lot more respect for Sarah's honesty... than I do "Sir" Obama's. We need to be looking solely at the candidates. Their credentials and experience. NOT their race or gender. ALSO...as "Sir" Obama has stated several times...their family members should be off-limits. So...I'm voting REPUBLICAN for about the 2nd time in my life and PROUD OF IT.

I have to go with Ms. Streisand on this one. With all due respect to Ms. Palin, she doesn't represent Clinton female voters. McCain would NEVER have chosen a man with Palin's credentials. It's tokenism at its best.

though i'm not sure how i feel about obama, that's the first thing i thought when he announced her as is vp running mate. haha. as far as she goes, i think she could potentially be a good choice. but who knows.

Palin is a breath of fresh air. She has accomplished more in Alaska than Obama has as a senator. Why can't we get beyond the sexism and look at credentials? Were there more "experienced men?" Yes. However, would any of them have created as much excitment and buzz as Sarah?

Sorry that's Pennsylvania.

You are right Tasha. She was chosen to pick off those social conservative democratic women. I live in Bucks County in PA. I have no doubt she will help McCain carry Pennyslvania. That "bitter" remark pissed a lot of people off.

the whole idea of equal opportunity is NOT favoring someone because of their race or gender, its favoring them in spite of it

My exact response when I heard the news of his selection was, "Does he really think we're that stupid?". She's right on with her response and if you go to her website, she elaborates on her position very well! Read the rest of her response- I totally agree!
