Pete Doherty Gives Up Drugs

The male Amy Winehouse, Pete Doherty is glad 2008 is over because he's vowed to live a clean life in 09. Do we believe him? Probably not, but at least he's trying.

Doherty, who famously dated Kate Moss, had a very public battle with substance abuse and has been fighting addictions to heroin and crack cocaine since 2003.

He was jailed for 14 weeks for probation violation relating to his previous drug and driving offenses. And has been arrested and released about 25 times. No joke. He probably got arrested every other week, or at least that’s what it felt like.

After all that, he's finally ready to get clean. He says, "I'm sick of going around in circles. I'm clean now and I'm going to stay that way this year - apart from the fags and the booze."

Hey, giving up heroin and cocaine is a start. We didn't expect him to give up the booze, that’s like asking Amy to get totally clean. We'll take what we can get with these two.
