Eliza Dushku Upsets PETA

Eliza Dushku
PETA has a new celebrity to go after, and it's Eliza Dushku. She's been out of the limelight lately, and what a way to be brought back into it!

Eliza has offended PETA because she recently admitted to hunting deer and elk.

She appeared on Jimmy Kimmel this week and demonstrated her skills on the show, recalling a time last Christmas when she killed a deer in Oklahoma.

She even went as far as defending her actions, saying, "When you're in a relationship with somebody you have to, like, experience things that they do. A lot of people eat meat... and I eat what I kill."

PETA did not like this thought process, responding with this statement: "Slaying bloodthirsty vampires on Buffy is brave, but slaying innocent animals where they live and raise their families is cowardly and cruel. Eliza is sorely out of step with the rest of the country; 95 per cent of Americans oppose hunting."

What do you think about Eliza's hunting hobby? Unethical or completely normal?

I doubt that 95% opposes hunting. PETA is just a domestic terrorist orginazation and the blogs and MSM need to stop giving them free publicity. This country is about freedom, not conforming the PETAs way of life.

I agree. I highly doubt 95% oppose hunting. If they did then Cabella's and The Bass Pro Shop should not be making any money......my point exactly. I am ok with hunting if you are eating it, which is what the majority of hunters do.

Hunters are honest about what they do and how they do it. PETA funds terrorists and spews false stats in hopes someone will believe them. Eliza, you keep up hunting and keep talking about it.

Good for Eliza having the courage to stand up and be proud of hunting. To know where your food source comes from is the responsible thing to do. PETA are a bunch of hypocrites anyhow when they are killing OVER 90% of the animals they "rescue". TRUTH!!!

As another woman hunter (and liberal environmentalist at the same time--it's possible, folks!), I was inspired to see Eliza talking about hunting on TV, especially since it meant risking all the negative publicity and bullying that the extremists at PETA have already started heaping on her. Contrary to what PETA would have us belive, the majority of hunters have a deep respect for the animals they pursue and the wildlands that support them. The money that hunters pay in registration fees and hunting licenses goes towards protecting our open spaces. For deer and elk to be eaten by other predators is perfectly natural, and so is hunting. PETA recently tried to run an ad in Manitoba comparing animal slaughter to the sick and horrifying beheading on a bus there. Clearly, this organization is beyond reason or compassion.

I DO NOT SEE A PROBLEM WITH HUNTING ANIMALS IF THE HUNTER IS USING IT FOR FOOD, FOR THOSE WHO DO IT FOR SPORT THAT TOO IS THERE RIGHT.SORRY BUT ANIMALS DO NOT HAVE RIGHTS PER SE. I HOPE THAT PEOPLE WHO HUNT FOR SPORT WOULD USE RESTRAINT AND NOT OVERDUE IT. I THINK PETA IS A GOOD ORGANIZATION AND WOULD BE USEFUL FOR THAT REASON BUT NOT ALL HUNTERS ARE CRIMINAL SO KNOCK IT OFF AND LEAVE ELIZA ALONE, SHE SEEMS LIKE A DECENT PERSON AND IS INVOLVED IN A LOT OF CHARITIES THAT WOULD SHARE A DIFFERENT OPINION THAN PETA.

95%? Show me some documentation on this, please. And if it's a survey, show me exactly how the survey was worded.

Good for her! I'd much rather shoot a deer, or catch a fish myself and kill it and eat it. The meat and fish in our grocery stores are loaded with growth hormones and who knows what else! If the package is stamped USDA, stay away.

How can anyone even claim to know the number of people who oppose hunting. Out of a nation of 330 million people nonetheless. They didnt poll me or anyone else I know. In fact, if you highlight the states on the map where hunting is HUGE, those states far outnumber the states where hunting isnt that big. PETA and everyone involved just proved that they are nothing more than LIARS that attack people who dont not agree with their views. Besides, if the deer population grows they will starve to death anyway.

Way to go Eliza, reality is many Americans understand the complexity of land capacity and herd management for the benefit of all animals, game and non game. PETA is an evil animal rights organization whose ultimate goal is the abolishment of any animal husbandry by farmers.

Way to go!!! I am proud of her for participating in nature instead of just being an observer. Hunt WITH your kids, so you don't have to hunt FOR your kids.

I oughta send her a t-shirt that reads "I'd rather eat fur than join P.E.T.A."

"but slaying innocent animals where they live and raise their families is cowardly and cruel." So PETA recommends only hunting in zoos?

As a liberal democrat from Massachusetts, I can say that PETA is out of touch with 95 percent of the American people. Just about everyone I know, even those who are "lefties" like me here in the "People's Republic of Massachusetts" think that PETA and its policies are pure rubbish. Even though I do not hunt and never will, I recognize that hunting does have its proper place in our society, as does animal husbandry in general. As for Eliza, just be true to your self and ignore what PETA says. As my grandmother used to say, "Consider the source and act accordingly."

Better to eat them than dump them in a dumpster like some PETA employees have done. She gets much respect from me for saying this. I am a mostly liberal environmentalist and a hunter, and I really see no contradiction there, as long as you're using what you kill and not just hunting for sport there's not a thing wrong with it And even some of the sport hunters I know donate the kills to homeless shelters and food programs, which is doing a lot more for this world than PETA ever has, or likely ever will.
