We’ve all heard the engagement rumors, and now there may be some truth to them! In October,
Hollyscoop first reported that
Penelope Cruz and
Javier Bardem were engaged, though neither of their reps would confirm the news.
But friends of the couple blabbed that they’d been told they were getting married. The following week, cameras caught Penelope flashing a huge sapphire and diamond ring at the premiere of director Pedro Almódovar's Broken Embraces on Sunday's closing night of the 47th New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center.
And now we’re hear the couple is planning on getting hitched as early as this winter!
In Touch reports that Penelope has been secretly meeting with different wedding dress designers, including House of Balenciaga which is from her native Spain. Penelope’s good friend Salma Hayek also wore Balenciaga for her wedding to billionaire François-Henri Pinault in Paris in February.
A source says, “Since she and Javier are from Spain, she’d love to have a Spanish designer create her dream gown.”
What’s funny is that Balenciaga doesn’t have a bridal line, but they do make one-of-a-kind gowns for special VIPs and celebrities. “I’m sure they would be more than thrilled to create a gown for Penelope,” says the source. According to an insider, Penelope knows her wedding gown “will be the most important dress of her life.”
The insider says we can expect them to tie the knot within the next month or so! “They will marry very soon, maybe even over the holidays. Penelope’s parents are conservative Catholics and are really pushing for her to get married. Javier would like to take things slowly, but Penelope wants to make her parents happy.”
