Penelope Cruz: I'm Keeping My Son Anonymous

Most celebrities spare no time pimping out their kids. Before they even give birth they’re making arrangements with magazines for cover shots, photo ops and interviews.

But don’t expect to see Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem’s baby anytime soon. She’s planning on keeping baby Leo anonymous for as long as she possibly can.

“I want my son — and my kids if I have more — to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible,” Cruz explained to Vogue magazine.

“The fact that his father and I have chosen to do the work that we do, doesn’t give anybody the right to invade our privacy.”

Penelope gave birth in January and so far we’ve only seen a couple of grainy photos of little Leo.

The truth is, when your parents are as famous and Penelope and Javier, there’s no way you can stay out of the spotlight. Can you think of a celebrity kid that has stayed anonymous?

Mariah Carey had paparazzo’s posing as patients in the hospital just to get the first shot of her twins. Nick Cannon even revealed: “We’ve had people posing as workers in the hospital with cameras trying to get pictures.”

What are the chances they can keep their kids out of the spotlight and tabloids when dozens of people follow them around trying to snap photos of the kids?

Natalie Portman, who is eight months pregnant, is notoriously private about her personal life, so it’s safe to assume she’ll be the same about her unborn child. But as much as we’re looking forward to seeing her newborn, the truth behind how the photos will spread is probably really sad.

Nicole Richie had to recently get a restraining order against a paparazzi that would camp outside little Harlow’s school waiting to snap photos of her.

So as much as we love seeing celebrity baby photos, the truth is the only people who gain from the photos are the sleazy paps.
