If you remember Paula Abdul taking MTV by storm in ‘89-’90 with such hits as "Straight Up", "Cold Hearted", and "Opposites Attract"—you might be old.
The dancer/choreographer-turned-singer/reality TV judge just celebrated her 50th birthday. Yes, 50!
Abdul was out and about last week in celebration of the half-century milestone.
On Tuesday she dined on Melrose with her boyfriend Johnny Caprio, who we assume was responsible for the big ass bouquet she was carrying. Cute. What’s not cute is that the paps were following them around wanting info on her “exit” from “The X Factor.” Give her a respite from her missteps, people.
Thursday the pair spent the day in Las Vegas, poolside at The Palazzo.
The former 'American Idol" judge along with a couple dozen of her closest friends, commemorated her birthday by soaking up some sun at Azure, The Palazzo Las Vegas’ luxury pool. Paula and her beau, who also joined in on the fun by celebrating his own birthday that day, chatted with guests about what it was like to turn 50. “It’s a huge birthday for me! I’m excited about it. It’s a monumental birthday for sure!”
The couple lounged about and even shared a cake -- red velvet -- inscribed with “Happy Birthday Paula and John.”
I mean, again, cute.
Later in the evening, the music icon and TV judge continued the festivities at TAO.
On Friday night, Paula = celebrated the big 5-0 with a private dinner at Scott Conant's Scarpetta at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas.
Though all we really know about her current suitor is that he’s a Rhode Island businessman -- we are sort of hoping that this monumental year marks a turning point for Paula, who’s notoriously, sadly, unlucky in love.
As far as her career goes, we hoping for the best there too – but we feel like its not appropriate to mention that, at this juncture….
And don’t worry Paula, no matter how old you are, there are still those of us around who remember “Forever Your Girl.”
