Who needs to play the lottery when you can get paid for falling down?
If Paula Abdul wasn’t already having a crappy year, she’s now having to pay nearly a million dollars in damages to a woman who fell over on her driveway.
The woman, Jill Kohl, alleges she fell over in the grounds of Paula’s Los Angeles home during the taping of the singer's reality show, ‘Hey Paula.’ Kohl sued Abdul and the company who made the show. Jill’s lawyer, Robert Rodriguez Clayton has now told TMZ that Abdul agreed to settle for $900,000 in damages and the company will be giving her $100,000 in damages.
The lawsuit, filed March 2009, states that Jill fell over because Paula’s driveway “was in a dangerous and defective condition.”
It’s kind of bullsh-t, because if Paula can walk up that driveway without falling down, anyone should be able to.
The news comes just weeks after Paula confirmed she was fired from the ‘X-Factor.’ But despite her bad luck, Abdul is keeping a positive attitude and holds no grudges against Simon.
“Simon and I, along with Fox and [production company] Fremantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, and I have absolute understanding of the situation. Simon is, and will remain a dear friend of mine and I've treasured my experience working this past season with my extended family at Fox and Fremantle.”
Paula added: “I want nothing more than for The X Factor to exceed ALL of their wildest dreams. This truly has been a blessing and I am most grateful.”
