After news broke this morning that Paula Abdul wasn’t likely to return to American Idol next season, it sent fans into a frenzy. And what better way to show their love for the Idol judge than via Twitter?
Fans have been tweeting all day to show support for Paula, including past Idol contestants like last season’s Matt Giraud, Anoop Desai and Danny Gokey. Season 7’s Syesha Mercado wrote: “No Paula = No American Idol.”
Katrina Darrell, aka “Bikini Girl,” showed the love in her own way by tweeting, "They don't need a 4th judge, especially an insecure know it all kara. Keep Paula add bikini girl as 4th judge if they need."
Paula thanked all her fans with her own tweet, writing: "I"m actually moved 2 tears upon reading the enormous amount of tweets showing me your kindness, love & undying support. God bless all you! If it weren't for you, this specific time and situation would feel a lot worse! xoP"
Simon Cowell is a bigger Paula Abdul fan than we thought! The two are constantly at odds during the show, but maybe it’s all just an act!
Simon reacted to news Paula might not be returning to American Idol next season, telling Extra, "She'll be fine. She'll be on the show. I don't get a lot of say. I've just made it clear that I want Paula on the show."
Ryan Seacrest doesn’t seem concerned about the situation either, adding, "I think as far as I know, you'll see everybody back. I hope so."
We love that fans are supporting Paula, but sadly we don’t think it’ll bring her back to the show. Based on her manager’s comments this morning about his client being “hurt” and “angry,” we think this is probably a salary dispute.
Looks like the show ran out of money after renewing Simon’s fat contract! It’s probably best for Paula that she move on.
