Thirty-one years ago today, the world lost an activist, a rock star, and one of the most prolific songwriters in music history—the great John Lennon.

It’s been a few decades since John Lennon’s death, but his influence and impact remain. From rock ‘n rollers to poets to artists, Lennon is often cited as their idol.

To honor John Lennon’s death, and celebrate his life and legend, here’s what celebs have to say about the icon.

Drew Barrymore: “Anything in life, whatever your question is for the universe, if you put on a John Lennon song, he will answer you. I think ‘Watching the Wheels’ is the song I love the most, because it is so true. I completely feel like that song.”

All you need is love. Beatle Paul McCartney got married this weekend. This is the third marriage for the 69-year-old British icon.

McCartney married Nancy Shevell, a 51-year-old New Jersey Trucking heiress. Yep, you read that correct. Don’t be fooled by the words, “Jersey” “Heiress” and “trucking” she’s apparently a very lovely lady.

Fellow Beatle, Ringo Starr was at the reception and told People, “Nancy’s a beautiful woman.” Paul’s brother Mike McCartney, who served as Best-Man says, “She is a charming lady…she’s one of us now.”

Also at the wedding was famed 60’s model, Twiggy, who announced she was “starving” upon entering the all-vegetarian banquet.

Sir Paul McCartney learned the hard way that marrying a gold digger will leave a permanent dent in your bank account.

McCartney admits that marrying Heather Mills was the biggest mistake he had made in the last decade and we don't blame him! He ended up paying her $100 million dollars for 6 horrible years of marriage.

He said in an interview with Q magazine: “I suppose the marriage has to be a prime contender for mistake of the decade. But I don’t want to down anyone.

“These things happen you know? But I tend to look at the positive side, which is that I have another beautiful daughter out of it.”

His daughter really is the only good thing that came out of that marriage. Let's hope Paul gets a great attorney and an iron clad prenup before he decides to get hitched again.

Paul McCartney is a well known animal rights activist, and now he’s banded together with a bunch of other celebrities to convince people to go vegetarian.

But Paul understands people like their burgers, so he’s only asking you to go veggie once a week. Paul has rounded up Chris Martin, Kevin Spacey, Woody Harrelson, and Sir Richard Branson to bring awareness to “Meat Free Monday.”

So what’s the story behind the campaign? Well, it aims to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions from the world’s livestock population, which is thought to be a major cause of global warming.

Paul told The Independent newspaper: “Many of us feel helpless in the face of environmental challenges, and it can be hard to know how to sort through the advice about what can do to make a meaningful contribution to a cleaner, more sustainable, healthier world.

"Having one designated meat-free day a week is one meaningful change that everyone can make, that goes to the heat of several important political environmental and ethical issue as all at once. We should all care about climate change because if we don’t, we are going to leave our children and their children in a hell of a mess.”

The United Nations Food And Agriculture Organization claims that meat production is responsible for 18 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions.

Can you give up meat on Mondays?

Celebrity divorces don’t come cheap, especially when one of them is worth almost a billion dollars. As news broke that actor Mel Gibson’s wife Robyn has filed for divorce after 28 years of marriage, many were left wondering what was at stake.

Mel Gibson is reportedly worth almost $950 million dollars, and since the couple never signed a prenup, Robyn could be entitled to half his fortune, which would potentially lead to the biggest divorce settlement in history!

Madonna's split from Guy Ritchie was the last celebrity divorce to raise eyebrows, as he was reportedly granted $76 million, but that's chump change compared to what Mel may have to cough up in his settlement.

While Madonna’s split with her hubby of eight years was a costly one, there are a number of stars that paid a whole lot more in their settlements:

10. Michael Douglas’s marriage to Diandra Douglas ended in 2000 after 23 years in marriage when Diandra walked away with $45 million.

9. In 2008 Phil Collins’ had to pay Orianne Cevey, a Swiss-born woman 22 years his junior $46.76 million. The couple was married for six years and has two children.

8. Paul McCartney dropped his gold digger ex wife Heather Mills in 2006 after four years of marriage. That drop cost him $48.6 million.

7. “Titanic” director James Cameron, had to pay his wife of two years Linda Hamilton, $50 million for their divorce settlement. $25 million for each year of marriage? Sounds like Linda got a boat load of money for nothing.

6. Madonna’s split with Guy Ritchie cost her $76 million dollars, which only puts her in the number six position on this list, but at the time her rep called it "one of the largest payouts ever in a divorce settlement.”

5. After 16 years of marriage Kevin Coster and Cindy Silva split leaving Silva with $80 million.

4. Harrison Ford spent the 1980s and 1990s with wife Melissa Mathison, but the couple decided to call it quit after 21 years together in 2004. Mathison walked away with $85 million, plus future royalties on two Star Wars films and three Indiana Jones movies.

3. Although Steven Spielberg had a prenup with his wife of four years Amy Irving, she still walked away with a cool $100 million. Now that's a good lawyer!

2. Neil Diamond spent 27 years with his wife Marcia Murphey before handing her $150 million dollars for their divorce. That's roughly $5.5 million for each year they were together.

1. According to both USA Today and Forbes, Michael Jordan made the largest payout ever in a celebrity divorce when he handed his wife of 18 years, Juanita, $168 million dollars back in 2007.

Clearly Paul McCartney learned nothing from his $50+ million dollar divorce, because he's reportedly planning on walking down the aisle with current girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

The couple, who recently moved in together, met 30 years ago when their families would vacation together. Her divorce from lawyer Bruce Blakeman was barely finalized last month.

"Nancy and Sir Paul are totally natural together and feel blessed to have found happiness," a source told The Mirror.

"Unlike Heather [Mills], Nancy is a multi-millionaire in her own right and therefore could never be portrayed as being interested in Sir Paul for his money. She is calm, measured and mature, whereas Heather is fiery and impulsive."

It's great that they're in love, but they both just came out of failed marriages, what's the rush? Why can't they just continue to live together instead of getting married? Guess we'll never understand celebrities’ addiction to marriage--among other things.

Paul McCartney will be guarded by Israeli secret service at the concert in their country this month to protect him from the death threats he's been receiving by Muslim extremists. He'll be playing a show in Tel Aviv on September 25th, and the extremists, who call McCartney an enemy of Muslims, say he'll be targeted by sacrifice operatives if he chooses to go forward with it.

Israeli politicians have reportedly ordered officers from their secret service operation Mossad to protect the star, fearing an attack by suicide bombers. An Israeli official tells The Sun, "Anyone who tries anything will be meeting Allah sooner than they thought." McCartney remains adamant his solo show will go ahead despite urges to cancel, insisting to local newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth on Friday, "I refused. I do what I think, and I have many friends who support Israel."

Is it really worth it to go ahead with the show if he's getting serious death threats? Would you do it?

Paul McCartney must not have learned his lesson the first time, because he's reportedly about to get hitched again! He's fueled rumors that he's set to wed girlfriend Nancy Shevell after seeking her parents' approval.

Although who would deny Paul MCartney? Not only that, but Paul was spotted ring shopping at London jewelers S.J. Philips. Friends of the couple say they're perfect for each other, and are with each other all the time.

Paul even jokes that his new lady is at least financially independent. Rumor has it their wedding will be next April. Wonder what Heather thinks of all this!

You would think that after all that gold digging Heather Mills did, and the messy divorce that followed would make Paul McCartney want to stay as far away as possible from that crazy bitch.

Being the nice guy that he is, he's decided to express himself through music with a new song that reveals his feelings on the breakdown of his marriage to Heather.

The song is entitled My Soul, and it will be featured on his new album London Undersound.

The lyrics include: "I want to know all your secrets. How could this steal all these feelings? How could they lie to the world? A picture away from your smile. One heart replaced. Feelings displaced. Invade our space."

A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, "What the song shows is that Paul just feels sorry for her. He feels sorry that she was never able to tell him the full truth about her past life. Paul knows Heather is a complex person, and deeply misunderstood, but she has hardly helped herself by being less than transparent about her life."

What do you think Paul's lyrics say about how he feels about Heather?
