Isaiah Washington has been axed from Grey’s Anatomy and he just can't stop talking about it. Now he is blaming ex-costar Patrick Dempsey for his homophobic slur.
Washington was interviewed on Larry King Live, and during the interview he said that he regretted not confronting Dempsey the first time around on his tardiness. Dempsey's repeated tardiness is what upset Washington and led to the homophobic slur.
"I said I don't need Ellen, I can act," Washington told King. "And that was the moment that sent it into a different zone."
According to Washington, Dempey became a diva at the moment. "He became unhinged, sprayed spittle in my face," said Washington. "I'm asking him why is he screaming at me. ... He just becomes irate."
That's when Washington said "a lot of things I'm not really proud of."
"I said several bad words," he recalled, quoting himself as telling Dempsey: "There's no way you're going to treat me like the B-word, the P-word or the F-word."
He said that the "F-word" was not meant to be an anti-gay comment, but implied "somebody who is being weak."
"I am not homophobic – in no way, shape or form," said Washington.
The guy just should say he screwed up and move on. He is stirring the pot even more because he keeps talking about it. If he wants another acting gig he should shut up, keep his head down and move on.
