NOTE: just because you are a heiress doesn’t mean you can get away with drunk driving. Paris Hilton was arrested in the wee hours in Hollywood for driving her Mercedes McLaren SLR erratically. LAPD stopped Paris at 12:31 AM and booked her after she failed the breathalyzer test at .08. In California, driving with a .08 blood alcohol level is the minimum level for DUI.
According to TMZ.com, officers who stopped the car did not know it was Paris Hilton until they approached the vehicle on foot. Police sources say she was cooperative. Paris had a passenger in the car – Kimberly.
Nicky Hilton, her boyfriend, "Entourage" star Kevin Connolly and her publicist Elliot Mintz arrived at the Hollywood police station just before 2 AM PST. A short time later, Paris was released on her own recognizance and allowed to leave. CLICK HERE to see the footage.
Wonder what Paris Hilton’s booking photo looks like? Well according to a LAPD spokesperson, the photo will not be released. Damn it! Wonder how much she had to pay off people to do that!
Earlier in the night, Paris was at Dragonfly with pals Kim Stewart, Nicky and Kevin Connolly for Carmen Electra's charity, Head to Hollywood and a Us Weekly magazine party. Paris rep said she had a single drink -- a margarita -- the entire evening and shortly thereafter she was stopped. TMZ spoke with Paris as she was driving home from jail, stopping for Parliament Lights cigarettes en route. She says she "regrets it occurred," and adds that she has been up for 24 hours, having shot a music video all day. Paris says she had nothing to eat and no rest the entire day.
What are the consequences Paris faces for drunk driving? Driving under the influence is a misdemeanor. If convicted, the defendant will not be jailed, will be given three months' probation, and will be ordered to enter an alcohol program and will have his or her license restricted for 90 days.
The sad part of this story is that this isn’t the first time. It’s just the first time, cops actually did their job. How do you guys feel, will Paris get away with this incident or are you guys over her? We want to hear your thoughts.
