Diddy Credits Daddy for Success

February 21, 2008

P. Diddy

Sean Combs/P.Diddy/Diddy or whatever he's been calling himself lately credits his murdered father for his success in life. Mostly because he didn't want to end up like him.

Diddy's father was shot and killed when he was just three years old. His murder helped shape his son's desire to succeed.

He says, "The greatest thing about the American dream is to be an American businessman, to take care of your family and make something happen.

"This is way more parallel to my life. I grew up on 145th Street and Lenox Avenue (in Harlem). I was afraid of getting hurt in the streets. My father was murdered when I was three. He was a street hustler.

"I just wanted to be somebody."

Diddy is no doubt one of the biggest hip-hop moguls in the game so it’s a good thing he ended up on the right path.

I think that many people are inspired by their parents that were not so successful. I commend Diddy for this because although some parents serve as role models, Diddy decided not to play nor model the role his father once played.
