2012 Oscar Nominations List
The height of award season has arrived. Jennifer Lawrence, along with Academy President Tom Sherak, just announced the Oscar nominations for the 84th Annual Academy Awards. And yes, both The Descendants and The Artist dominated, as was expected. George Clooney actually made history for being nominated in two different categories again.

"This morning we will share the news we've all been waiting for," Sherak said, live from the Beverly Hilton. No time was wasted to announce the nominees for Best Supporting Actress, which included award season sweetheart, Octavia Spencer. Melissa McCarthy was also nominated for Bridesmaids and Jessica Chastain for The Help.

Best Supporting actor nods included Kenneth Bannagh, Johan Hill, and Christopher Plummer.

And for Best Supporting Actress in a leading role, Glenn Close ('Albert Nobbs'), Viola Davis ('The Help'), Rooney Mara ('The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'), Meryl Streep ('The Iron Lady') and Michelle Williams ('My Week With Marilyn') will all go head-to-head.

For Best Supporting Actor in a lead role, George Clooney and Brad Pitt are once again up against each other. While Clooney took home the Golden Globe, there's a good chance Brad could swipe the Oscar. But they've got stiff competition with the likes of Gary Oldman on that list.
