Oprah has apologized to author James Frey four years after she confronted him on her show. As you may recall, James is the author of the controversial memoir “A Million Little Pieces,” which chronicles his life as a 23-year old drug addict who is trying to cope in rehab.

In 2005, Oprah picked the book as an Oprah Book Club selection, and it quickly became the number one seller on Amazon and New York Times.

The next year, it was reported that the book contained many fabrications and was not a completely factual memoir. Frey defended his work, calling it “the essential truth of my life.”

Winfrey told Frey that she felt "really duped" but that, "more importantly, I feel that you betrayed millions of readers."

She went on to accuse the author of betraying his readers. Her berating of Frey was among the most public embarrassments for the author, who apologized for "lying." A month after the broadcast his publisher Riverhead Books dropped him.

But Oprah has just apologized to Frey for her comments. Frey told , "It was a nice surprise to hear from her, and I really appreciated the call and the sentiment. When I heard her say, 'I felt I owe you an apology,' I was very grateful."

They may have made up, but the public berating has really done a number on James’ career. He released a book last year called “Bright Shiny Morning,” but it never got half the amount of attention “Pieces” did.

ultimate power corrupts, ultimately. Oprah has often misused her power, but few have the balls to call her out. 4 years to apologize, oh how magnanimous of you Oprah. BITCH
