Oprah And Bono Shop Until Poverty Stops?

My two idols Irish rocker Bono and talk show queen Oprah Winfrey walked down Chicago's 'Magnificent Mile' yesterday for a shopping spree to promote Bono’s new Red product line of clothing, accessories and gadgets, including a special-edition iPod, that will raise money to fight AIDS in Africa.

Dozens of items will go on sale in the coming weeks by Gap Inc., Apple Computer Inc., Motorola Inc., Converse Inc. and Emporio Armani. Portions of the product sales will go to The Global Fund, an organization that fights AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

"Shop 'till it stops," said Bono as he walked out of the Apple store clutching bulging shopping bags. So far, the (Product) Red initiative, which began this spring in Britain, has raised more than $12 million for African AIDS programs, said Doug Piwinski, a spokesman for (Product) Red.

I am so jealous I couldn’t be there in person to see this. I have met Bono who was the nicest person in the entire world, I have yet to meet my icon Oprah but she’s the next one on my list! So get out your wallets and lets help make a difference by supporting this cause!
