One year after being arrested on possession of heroin, former child star
Mackenzie Philips appeared on
Oprah today to discuss her problems with drugs, and the disfunction of growing up the daughter of a musician. Her dad is John Phillips, who was the lead singer of the Mamas and the Papas.
Mackenzie has a new memoir coming out this week entitled High On Arrival, which discusses her battle with addiction. She shockingly divulged the following information to Oprah:
"My father shot me up for the first time It seemed to be the next logical progression. I remember going into my room, I was crouched on the floor…He put the needle in my arm and put the plunger in and he missed. He missed the vein and my whole arm went numb."
Mackenzie also says she was seduced by
Mick Jagger. She told Oprah, "Mick Jagger locks the door and he says, 'I've been waiting for this since you were 10 years old.'"
