There’s always been the rumor that
Oprah and Gyle King were lovers rather than just friends. Of course it wasn't true because Oprah has been with her longtime partner Stedman for years. But Gayle finally addressed the rumors at last night’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York City, and shot them down to
Access Hollywood.
She said, “The thing [is], if we were gay, we would tell you. We would so tell you. We wouldn’t try to keep that a secret because there’s nothing wrong with being gay. So if we were, we would tell you. The truth of the matter is we’re not. It’s hard enough for me to get a date on a Saturday night as it is.
"This isn’t a rumor I’m trying to continue to explore, but no there’s nothing, there’s nothing wrong with it.”
Just last month,
Rosie O'Donnell, who is a lesbian, appeared on Howard Stern, and talked about the possibility of Oprah and Gayle being together.
Rosie said at the time, “I don’t know. I think [Oprah’s] never been married and she’s exceptionally close to Gayle. I don’t know that she and Gayle are necessarily doing each other but I think they are the emotional equivalent of…”
“A gay couple,” Howard chimed in. “When they did that road trip, that’s as gay as it gets,” Rosie said. “And I don’t mean it to be an insult either. I’m just saying, listen, if you ask me, that’s the couple.”
Rosie was referring to the televised road trip Oprah and Gayle took last year. But King was fully confident last night, saying she didn’t mind the rumor that had begun about her and her best friend. “I love that question,” Gayle said. “That never bothers me because it’s so silly.”
Guess that takes care of that! We’re surprised someone actually had the guts to ask her that!
