Are They Abusing Oprah's Students?

Oprah has taken 2 trips in last 10 days to her $40 million dollar all girls school in South Africa after allegations of sexual and physical abuse have emerged.

A matron at the school apparently "fondled" one of the students and assaulted another. The matron has been temporarily suspended pending an investigation from the child protection unit (CPU).

Oprah flew in twice to see what’s going on at the school ever since she heard about the abuse. She even held an emergency hearing with the parents on Saturday.

People learned of the abuse at the school when one of the students ran away. The student went home to her parents after the alleged abuse was becoming intolerable.

It's nice to see that Oprah actually does genuinely care about this school and the kids because she actually took the initiative to fly there twice. Others wouldn't even probably go there.

It may be mass hysteria from the children being separated from their families for long periods of time. This is not a normal situation with African families no matter how great the reward and luck in being allowed in the school, they are gregarious and loving people. And the teachers and instructors may have a hard time making them obey and follow a routine designed to make them productive workers. Oprah has made strict rules and the students have to concentrate on their work and study and do not see or contact their parents and sibblings daily.

I'm not sure how regular of a practice this is in the rest of Africa, but I know that in my home country of Nigeria if your parents could afford it, you get sent to boarding school. My parents and most of their friends went. If I had grown up there, I probably would have gone as well. It's not often just a matter of missing your parents, etc...

it would be fine if they got two visitations in 3 months but not daily. if they really went to a boarding school they should stay at school think of only school, like school activities and school social life this helps them so much learn how to live with differnt people of different ideas, and everything than think of always waiting for mom and dad .this helps them also how to survive. example. If thier parents give them pockect money they will not bugdet for this money they will use any how they feel like because they know they will be visited any time soon to have more.and which does not work in this big world today unless for a socail class kid.
