One Tree Hill

Congrats, Sophia Bush, you still have a job. On Tuesday night, the CW network announced that One Tree Hill will be renewed for a ninth season.

The CW reportedly only picked up a limited amount of shows for the 2011-2012 season, with only thirteen new episodes ordered. Find out who got axed after the cut.

Fans were outraged when Chad Michael Murray announced he wouldn’t be returning to One Tree Hill next season. But luckily, the CW has ordered up another hottie to take his place.

Robert Buckley, whom you may know from the cancelled Lipstick Jungle, has officially joined the cast. It’s perfect timing, since his show just got the boot! Robert should thank Chad for leaving when he did!

In the upcoming seventh season of this show, Buckley will play Clayton, a young sports agent who represents Nathan Scott (played by James Lafferty). Throughout the season, Clayton will become a close friend, business partner and advisor to him.

Believe it or not, Brian Austin Green was initially in talks for the role early on, but a deal couldn’t be reached. Seems surprising, since Green should realistically be taking any role he can get at this point.

Robert doesn’t have the best track record on shows. Not only did Lipstick Jungle get cancelled, but so did Privileged, which he guest-starred on as well. Hopefully he won’t curse One Tree Hill too!

Chad Michael Murray’s name is pretty much synonymous with One Tree Hill. So it’s surprising to hear that he’s leaving the show that really put him on the map! And he’s not the only series regular who’s leaving—Hilarie Burton is bidding the CW show adieu as well.

According to EW, Chad and Hilarie, whose characters tied the knot in last night’s episode, are leaving because of contract disputes that couldn’t be worked out, and the two will be leaving the show after next Monday’s season finale.

The network intends to announce the news of their two main characters leaving at next week’s upfronts. And show insiders say that two new characters will be introduced to fill the void.

Murray and Burton probably want to explore other options, and take on movie roles. But they should be warned that it’s no easy feat. Look at Mischa Barton! After begging to get killed off The O.C. in 2006, she finds herself right back where she started, on television.

According to network execs, the CW hasn’t even decided if they’ll bring the show back for its 7th season next year, saying, "The network hasn’t yet ordered a 7th season and the studio is in early negotiation stages with the actors, just in case the network decides to bring us back. In other words, NOTHING has been decided yet.”

Do you think this is a good decision for Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton? Will you still watch the show without them?

Nick Lachey, what are you doing?!! Apparently he’s scheduled to appear on an episode of One Tree Hill this season. We know he hasn’t been doing much career-wise lately, but One Tree Hill? He seems just a little too old for that. It’s like the TV equivalent of singing at a chili cook-off.

But Nick won’t have to break out his acting chops for this one! He’ll reportedly be playing himself on the show. He’ll pay a visit to the cast after Haley is hesitant to sell one of her songs she wrote for Nick to a record label.

And speaking of music, Nick is coming out with a new album this spring. It even features a duet between him and new Idol judge Kara DioGuardi.

Nick says, She and I wrote it together. Initially, just in the studio, we thought, ‘All right, let’s sing it together and then we’ll maybe find someone else to be on it’ but she did such a great job on it.”

Now that we can get excited about. The One Tree Hill stuff, not so much.
One Tree Hill @ 9pm
This show often attracts top music acts, especially for their episodes in which Peyton stages concerts. Tonight she organizes a USO show with headliners Angels and Airwaves and Kate Voegele (reprising her role as Mia). Haley is set to perform as well, except she's hit with a case of stage fright. Off stage, Lucas tries to come to terms with Peyton and Julian's romantic past, while Millicent confronts Mouth about his relationship with Gigi.

Gossip Girl @ 8pm
It's almost like it's the 1980s all over again when Cyndi Lauper and The Princess Bride star Wallace Shawn appear in tonight's episode! Lauper appears as herself (it turns out Blair is a fan), and Shawn appears as Eleanor's new beau, Cyrus Rose. (Blair's not a fan of his, so she tries to break them up.) Elsewhere, Jenny moves in with Agnes, and Dan starts hanging around the Bass family in order to get dirt on Bart and write an exposé on him. Way to get on Chuck's bad side yet again, Dan.

Chuck @ 8pm
Chuck confronts the "ex factor" tonight. Jordana Brewster begins a multi-episode guest-star stint as Jill, Chuck's former flame and college sweetie, a beauty who broke his heart and derailed his life. Chuck runs into her by chance and, of course, embellishes his status in life to impress her. But Chuck quickly springs into spy mode upon discovering that her research-scientist boss may be involved in the development of a bioweapon. Meanwhile, Buy More's efficiency expert (Tony Hale) enforces a mandatory CPR course, conducted by none other than Captain Awesome himself.

Heroes @ 9pm
Arthur Petrelli has certainly been busy over the past few weeks: building an army, wreaking havoc with his sons, ordering murders, etc. But what led him to his current mission? Tonight we find out as Hiro takes a look into the past and discovers what drove the Petrelli patriarch down the dark path leading to Pinehurst.

James Van Der Beek is heading back to television! He’ll be back in his old hood of Wilmington, North Carolina to shoot an episode of One Tree Hill. According to reports, James will play a director who’s interested in making a movie out of Chad Michael Murray’s novel on the show. Sounds exactly like his character on Dawson’s Creek!

One Tree Hill executive producer Mark Schwahn, says, "The specter of Dawson's Creek is always around us. We're about to complete 128 episodes, which is what Dawson's did. So I thought it would be cool to get James."

What would be even cooler is if they got Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson too!

American Idol @ 8pm
The real competition begins as the top 12 finalists are now set. Performing tonight are David Archuleta, David Cross, David Hernandez, Brooke White, Syesha Mercado, Chikezie, Amanda Overmyer, Jason Castro, Carly Smithson, Kristy Lee Cook, Ramiele Malubay and Michael Johns. Last week, David Archuleta, Brooke White and David Cross scored high marks with the judges. But will they be able to keep up the good work?

Beauty and the Geek @ 8pm
As the series begins its fifth season, you'd expect — as was the case last season (remember the male "beauty" and female "geek"?) — that there will be a new twist to keep things exciting. There is, and it's major, but the constant is still the moments of sweet charm in this social experiment disguised as a contest. In the opener, the nine men and nine women meet and learn that they won't compete as beauty-geek pairs — but as a team of beauties against a team of geeks. And their first challenge is to go to a club and get phone numbers. But to make it a fair fight, the women get "makeunders" so they appear unattractive!

Gene Simmons Family Jewels @ 10pm
The surprise and, most likely, the appeal of the series has been how far removed Gene Simmons is from the rock-star persona most people imagine. The third season picks up where last season ended, with Gene possibly on the verge of deflating that last requisite myth: that rockers' sexual exploits are off the charts. Gene prepares to go on Adam Carolla's radio show and take a lie-detector test to reveal whether he's really a sexual legend, but other things are on his mind at the time. As KISS prepare to take the stage for a concert, Paul Stanley becomes ill. And on top of that, Gene's dog Snippy disappears.

One Tree Hill @ 9pm
Recently on 1tree, what a quiet, uneventful little episode of One Tree Hill. Well, except for Jamie almost drowning. And Rachel almost dying. And Dan possibly getting paroled. And Haley saying she wants a divorce. Tonight, on the eve of their impending nuptials, Lucas and Lindsey try to help a couple who are facing problems. Meanwhile, three old faces return to town, among them Rachel; and Brooke has to deal with Victoria.

Real Housewives of New York City @ 11pm
Bravo's Housewives franchise relocates from sunny California to the gritty concrete jungle of New York in this reality spin-off. Let's meet our privileged, high-powered ladies, shall we? There's up-and-comer Alex McCord; single Manhattanite Bethenny Frankel; businesswoman-mother Jill Zarin; real-life countess LuAnn de Lesseps; and entrepreneur Ramona Singer. The filthy-rich playground of the Hamptons figures prominently in tonight's first wives' tale, with Ramona (as well as LuAnn and her family) gearing up for a restful romp at the affluent summer colony. Then there's Jill, who sets her sights on scoring a private plane. Ah, topflight dramas with the jet set it is.

Millionaire Matchmaker @ 10pm
We love it, we can't stand it! Why do we feel so dirty after watching it? It's the new age brothel or high priced escort service that is the new enticing show. We are hooked as sometimes clueless men with lotsa cash try to find true love in a bevy of beauties. It smart and new yet practices a lot of old time traditions. In the season finale, Patti plays matchmaker for a Las Vegas businessman, plus a divorced talent-agency owner who is reluctantly dipping into the dating pool.

New Amsterdam @ 9pm
New York homicide detective John Amsterdam (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has seen it all — and then some. It's hard to make his long story short, but here it goes: As a Dutch soldier in the 17th century in what was to become New York, he was granted immortality by a Native American shaman after being run through with a sword. He's had many identities ever since and will only begin to age — and eventually die — when he finds true love. The modern-day police-procedural stuff is pretty much by the book, but the most promising parts of this new series should be the flashbacks explaining how he has spent the past four centuries.

One Tree Hill @ 9pm
Dan Scott: Hate him or love to hate him, he's a villain who's an integral part of this show. His screen time has been all too brief this season, thanks to his deserved confinement behind prison walls. But he makes another welcome appearance tonight at his parole hearing, which both Nathan and Lucas attend. Will this lead to continued time in the pen, or a return home? Meanwhile, Brooke makes a return visit to New York and takes Owen along with her. While there, someone from her past unexpectedly resurfaces.

Quarterlife @ 10pm
The executive producers of the cult hit My So-Called Life have tapped into the younger generation once again with this new series, which originally aired on the Web but has now moved to NBC. The series, despite its unconventional path to television, follows an average bunch of twentysomethings as they navigate the challenges that go along with coming of age. Modern life, however, creeps into the series' traditional setup as one character's revealing video blog about herself and her friends drives much of the show's action.

Biggest Loser @ 8pm
What happens in Vegas won't necessarily stay in Vegas when one team is sent to Sin City on a surprise trip. Will they exercise more than the one-armed bandits? Can they resist temptation in the land of the 24-hour, all-you-can-eat buffet? The odds may not be in their favor, but they are determined to be winners. Later, the weigh-in leads to a surprising decision from an unlikely player.

Back To You @ 9:30pm
It's been a while since we've seen something new from Chuck, Kelly and the gang (Nov. 14, to be exact), but the WURG crew is back with original episodes tonight and tomorrow (9:30 pm/ET). Tonight, Kelly is surprised to be asked to deliver the eulogy for a deceased colleague but isn't in on the joke that he used to tell people they were more than just coworkers. Tomorrow, Chuck is suspicious — and perhaps a bit jealous? — when a dashing young anchor at a rival station makes a play for Kelly's affections.

One Tree Hill @ 9pm
When the gals get locked in a library, Peyton and Lindsey have an opportunity to argue about Lucas; Brooke plays defense when others attack her mom; and Haley mentors Mia. Elsewhere, Mouth gets his first on-air assignment; and Lucas and Nathan each wrestle with how truthful to be regarding recent events in their lives.

Nip/Tuck @ 10 pm/ET FX **New**
After tonight, the boys are checking out (for the season, at least), and it looks like we'll be saying goodbye to poor, sick Colleen Rose (Sharon Gless) as well. (Wasn't that Sean's ex-agent being wheeled away in last week's promo?) Meanwhile, Christian faces a blast from his past, and as for poor, sick Julia, we'll see how good a shot Eden is. — Paul Droesch

American Idol @ 8pm
It's the first boys' night out of the season, with the Top 12 men performing. To crib from the Mamas and the Papas, if trilling makes a fellow willing, then now is the time, guys, to sing for your supper.

One Tree Hill @ 9pm
Last week, Peyton was left jaw-droppingly shocked upon learning that Lucas had just asked Lindsey to marry him. Tonight's episode picks up a few minutes before that, filling in the gaps with the actual proposal scene. What follows are everyone's reactions to the big news, plus Haley's struggle with whether she should keep silent or clue Lindsey in on the Lucas-Peyton kiss she witnessed. Likewise, Nathan must decide whether to clue Haley in on their nanny's recent flirty behavior, because Carrie isn't showing any signs of backing off.

Biggest Loser @ 8pm
Training at the ranch is easy (well, not when Bob and Jillian are barking orders): few distractions, lots of healthy food and plenty of time to exercise. But what about in the real world? Tonight, the players find out with a trip home, where they must continue their diet and exercise routines under normal conditions, without the incentive Bob and Jillian provide.

10 Item or Less @ 11pm
Jennifer Elise Cox has been a consistent highlight of this series, adding a fun, huffy spunk as hard-edged corporate competitor Amy Anderson. Tonight's episode spins around Cox — who was so memorable as a warped Jan Brady in the Brady Bunch movies — as her Amy is axed from behemoth SuperValueMart. Amy, what you wanna do? Greens & Grains proprietor Leslie knows what to do. He hires her at his store, to the immediate horror of the Greens staffers. Before long, Amy's strict and brassy managerial style rubs off on Leslie. Worse, Amy begins transforming the folksy store into an impersonal, cookie-cutter entity.
