This is way better than when the U.S. Women’s Soccer team did a lipdub of Miley Cyrus’s “Party In The USA.” That was a weird viewing experience.
The 2012 USA Olympic Swim Team took a cue from Justin Bieber’s playbook and created a playful parody video to Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”
See the Olympians in normal clothes (gasp), dancing on an airplane (gasp, gasp where’s the air marshal?) and goofing around with some underwater video (whoa!).
And yes, the question you’ve all been wondering... Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps DO make appearances in the video.
“It’s no secret that members of the U.S. Olympic swimming team work hard, but there’s also a little bit of downtime during training camp,” the team wrote about the video.
The best part arrives at the 1:00 minute mark because Ryan Lochte is nearly-naked and makes a kissy face at the camera. Oh Ryan, you slay me.
The video was spearheaded by three of the female swimmers including “airplane choreographer” and fan favorite Natalie Coughlin in an “attempt to blow off a little steam during spare time,” and also adds that the video “incorporates about 95 percent of the team.”
I love seeing Olympic athletes in their natural state. Check out those arms!? Those things are the size of Pterodactyl wings!
There’s also a guy doing a booty-shaking dance towards the end and it’s too dark to make out who it is but I recognize that wingspan anywhere, it’s definitely Michael Phelps.
Check out the swim team being adorable:
