Actor Olivier Martinez was born on January 12, 1966, in France, Paris and dropped out of school at a young age before enrolling in the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique, one of the most well known acting establishments in the whole world, at the age of 23.
After graduating, Martinez landed his first leading role in the period film The Horseman on the Roof in 1995, followed by a string of productions, but didn't grab the attention of Hollywood until 2000, when he starred alongside Javier Bardem and Johnny Depp in the critically acclaimed biopic Before Night Falls. Despite having his performance overshadowed by the Hollywood stars, Martinez pushed forward and put on an even stronger performance in the drama thriller Unfaithful opposite Diane Lane, which transformed him into a rising star.
Martinez then starred in the action film S.W.A.T. (2003) with Colin Farrell, the psychological thriller Taking Lives (2004) alongside Angelina Jolie and the film adaptation of the popular book Blood and Chocolate (2007).
Due to his taste for models and actresses, Martinez has been labeled as a womanizer, but has since drifted away from the reputation and into the arms of Halle Berry. The two began dating in 2010 and stuck together through a long custody battle between Halle and her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry before announcing their engagement in March 2012. On November 22, 2012, Martinez found himself in the middle of the war and ended up in the hospital alongside Gabriel ensuing a physical altercation in front of Halle's home. He was immediately granted an emergency restraining order against Gabriel after performing a citizen arrest, but was slapped with a similar restraint by Gabriel on November 26, 2012.
