Octavia Spencer Wins Best Supporting Actress at 2012 Academy Awards
'The Help' star Octavia Spencer won the first big award of the night…Best Supporting Actress. She was up against Melissa McCarthy ('Bridesmaids'), Jessica Chastain ('The Help'), Janet McTeer ('Albert Nobbs'), and Berenice Bejo ('The Artist').

"Thank you Academy, for putting me with the hottest guy in the room," Octavia joked as she was helped on stage. Then through tears, she added: "I have to thank…my family in Alabama, the state of Alabama." She went on to thank a handful of other friends, family and colleagues, including Steven Spielberg.

"Thank you world," Spencer said before breaking into full-blown crying.

Hollyscoop talked to Octavia before the Academy Awards, and she told us she was just happy to "be in the conversation."

"Well you know, it would be exciting if it happened but you know right now I’m a proponent of living in the moment," Octavia told Hollyscoop.

Well now, you're not just living in the moment, you are the moment. Congrats, Octavia!
