Twilight Star Nikki Reed and her American Idol fiancé Paul McDonald get hitched! It’s a beautiful thing when vampires and singing competition contestants come together in holy matrimony. Did I say beautiful? I meant to say totally random.
Reed and Mcdonald tied the knot on Sunday at a private ranch in Malibu, California for 100 of their closest friends and family.
“We couldn’t be happier!” the couple jointly told Us Weekly, “[We were] surrounded by our family and friends. We’re so glad this day has come!”
Reed, 23, plays one of the vampires in the Twilight saga and her new hubby McDonald was a contestant on season 10 of American Idol, though McDonald, 27, confesses he’s not really a Twi-hard.
“I haven’t ever actually watched any of her movies. I don’t know too much of her career at all, but the person she is is super cool,” he said.
I think it would be a problem if he WAS into Twilight. No self-respecting man ever should be.
The couple only met back in March at the premiere of Little Red Riding Hood. Nikki went up to McDonald to tell him she loved his performances on American Idol, “You’re amazing,” she gushed, “I’m blushing! I should go.”
McDonald confesses their first meeting was awkward as it was documented for American Idol, “We actually met on TV. That’s where we actually met. It was like, ‘Oh, great to meet you,” he told OK magazine.
He later apologized to Reed for not recognizing her and that’s how the romance started, “I didn’t realize who she was,” he confessed, “So I felt bad. I sent her a message saying, ‘I didn’t realize you were a big-time actress. I’m so sorry.”
Who knew he had just met his future wife on an awkward American Idol segment. A month after meeting he moved in with her, a month after that they were engaged.
At the time of their engagement, some suggested they had moved too fast. “I love him and I don’t care,” Reed told People in May.
“She’s amazing. She’s the perfect girl,” he tells MTV News, “We fit each other, when you know, you know, and she’s the one.”
Because McDonald is a musician, Nikki admits that she’s become his unofficial street team.
“I hand-print flyers and sign my name on them with his real album name,” she admits, “And I stood outside [his concert] for hours and passed out flyers to fans and said, “If you want my autograph, here’s what you have to do: Go look at his [album].’”
A couple that hustles together, stays together.
