Nicole Richie Reaches Out to Mothers in Need

Now that Nicole Richie is a mother, her focus has turned, in large part, to charity work that helps women and children in need. She’s just announced via her blog that she wants to bring awareness to women in Congo, who are in dire need of help.

Nicole has teamed up with a movement that aims to raise money for women living in Congo who are affected by violence against them. The country is known for their valuable minerals and gold mining, which has made it a dangerous place for these women to live.

In a video blog, Nicole talks about how the armed groups use rape to control the population. She says, "This stuff is really inhumane. This is the worst stuff that I've ever heard, in my life."

The crisis in the Congo is fueled by conflict minerals, but I’ve included several steps below that we believe will also help to bring this vicious cycle to an end.
