Nicole Richie and Joel Madden Start Charity

A very pregnant Nicole Richie and her beau Joel Madden have started a non-profit organization to help mothers in need.

Richie and Madden are planning a baby shower this Sunday at a private home and they've asked guests to bring cribs, strollers, and stuffed animals to donate to the new Richie Madden Children's Foundation.

Next month, their charity will also donate 100 Mom-to-Be kits to the Los Angeles Free Clinic. Kudos to Nicole and Joel for their efforts.

That is very awesome of them to do. Can I have a gift basket? I'm not in need or anything but I'm sure the baskets are filled with very nice things. lol. JK.

They don't need shower gifts because they're rich, so why not use their celebrity status to help those in need. Maybe they never really gave new mothers much of a thought before, but now since Nicole knows what all new motherhood is going to entail, she wants to help. Good for her!
