Let the Oscars begin! Now that the writer’s strike is over we can begin the countdown to the biggest event in Tinsel town. It’s the 80th annual Academy Awards and you bet there will be lots of great presenters, performers and surprises.
This morning Hollyscoop hit the press conference where we caught up with the Academy Awards producer Gil Cates and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis who gave us the scoop.

Cates and Ganis also announced the performers of the nominated songs, which included Amy Adams. Amy will be singing “Happy Working Song” from her move “Enchanted."
Second time Oscar show host Jon Stewart will get the party started with the live telecast. Speaking of parties, Cates and Ganis did mention that since most of the after parties are cancelled because of the strike, the Oscar official party Governor's ball will take place. With all this Oscar talk let the festivities begin!
