Nicole Kidman Honored

April 13, 2007

Hollywood A-lister Nicole Kidman has received the highest honor in her homeland of Australia. The actress was presented with Australia's top civil honor earlier today for her work on the big screen, as well as her efforts to promote women's health.

Kidman was awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia at Government House in Canberra, the country's highest honor, which is given to citizens for their 'eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree in service to Australia or humanity at large.'

Kidman collected the award in front of her hubby Keith Urban and her parents. Nicole addressed, "It's a pat on the back, which as a little girl is something you dream of."

What a hideous dress and hairstyle. Nicole is always so chic. What happened? That frock looks like something my cleaning lady wears.

Puh...lease! So she has gone to a few lunheons and made a couple of public service announcements, so she's some kind of hero! How sad that in our society celebrity ststus matters so much. I think she should be embarrassed to stand next to the Kennedy family and except the same award when they have actually worked for theirs for over 50 yrs. Face it she was awarded because she's a star! Sad!
