Nicki Minaj dropped the cover art for her next single “Anaconda” this week and it caused the divisive reaction you’d expect from such an image involving the rapper.
At almost 285K “likes,” it’s definitely receiving praise from fans…
But (no pun intended) it didn’t go unnoticed by Nicki when critics came at her with the predictable accusations that her lack of clothing and suggestive pose inspired—among them the cover art has been called “disgusting,” “trash” and “unacceptable.”
That’s when she took to her soapbox of choice (Instagram) to post the following:
Nicki does have a solid case. In media, women of color and women with larger physical anatomy are expected to cover up more than their peers and she’s just calling out the glaring double standard at work here.
