From Disney Channel to FOX… Is it time to welcome the Jonas to the big leagues of network television?
The television star turned singer has long been rumored to be joining the new “American Idol” judges panel. This weekend, Nick confirmed with his Twitter followers that he is indeed being considered by the network.
Nick Jonas tweeted the message on August 4, calling the opportunity a “dream come true."
The rumors are true... I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens.

If Nick signs on, he will be the youngest judge that the show has had. He will sit next to “Idol” veteran Randy Jackson and the most expensive judge the show has ever had, Mariah Carey.
It was confirmed that Mariah was joining the roster late last month. According to TMZ, the pop songstress will earn $18 million for the season, one-upping the $12 million payday of J.Lo, who she is replacing.
“As a singer, songwriter and producer, it’s going to be fun and rewarding to help find new talent and give back with American Idol,” Carey said in a statement.
The new high profile judge additions are likely an effort for “Idol” to compete with sister show ‘The X Factor,” which added Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to their ranks for Season 2.
The judging shakeup at “Idol” came to light after it was officially announced that J.Lo would not be returning for the singing competition’s 12th season. Around that same time, Steven Tyler also jumped ship.
The new season of “Idol” is scheduled to start this fall on FOX.
