The sun has officially set on Abigail Breslin’s innocent image from Little Miss Sunshine. The 17-year-old actress posed for a series of risqué photos in which she’s soaking in a bubble bath and suggestively licking a lollipop—all topless, but obscured.
The Tyler Shields-shot photos received a backlash from those only accustomed to the cookie-cutter characters of her former roles and at the LA premiere of August: Osage County, Hollyscoop asked Abigail about the racy images. Her response?
“I would say YOLO [You Only Live Once],” Abigail answered, brushing off the expected criticisms. “I had fun and Tyler Shields is, like, one of my best friends. He’s a great photographer, and I love the pictures, and I had a great time.”
“I think that there was a headline that came out that was a bit unnecessary,” Abigail continued, “and that kind of changed how the whole thing went. But I was completely covered and it was a lot of fun. And I love Tyler.”
Clearly, Abigail is ready to take a more mature direction with her career, a move notably displayed by the types of projects she’s becoming involved with. Take for instance the film she’s currently promoting, which has critics buzzing. August: Osage County, adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning stage play by Tracy Letts, corrals an ensemble of acting elite such as Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.
It recently snagged four Critics’ Choice nominations, three nominations for the SAG Awards, and two Golden Globe nods.
