Thomas Beatie, also known as the world’s first pregnant man, has separated from his wife of 9 years People.com is reporting.
Beatie made headlines in 2007 when photos of a bearded dude with a pregnant belly were covering every magazine. Beatie used to be a woman, legally made the change to a male identity but kept his female reproductive system, thereby allowing him to conceive a child.
Don’t remember this? C’mon, this is all everyone was talking about in the grocery store check out lines for like all of 2007.
Anyways, we haven’t heard much from this family in several years, but apparently Beatie gave birth to two kids since that first announcement.
However, things don’t seem to be going smoothly over at the Beatie household. Beatie appeared on the TV show “The Doctors” to announce that he had done final female-to-male gender reassignment surgery but when "The Doctors" doctors asked if his wife Nancy was pleased with the results, he said, “Nancy hasn’t seen the new me yet.”
Well, where is she? I’m sure Beatie installed the new hardware for her, if you know what I mean?
Beatie responded, “Like all marriages, we have our ups and downs, and we’re going through a rough patch right now. At the moment, we’re separated.”
The couple have four kids together, two from Nancy’s previous marriage and two from Thomas.
The episode of Beatie on "The Doctors" airs on Monday, May 7.
