Public Service Announcement: Stop asking Stephenie Meyer about Twilight. Repeat — STOP ASKING STEPHENIE MEYER ABOUT TWILIGHT.
The architect of the Bella-Edward-Jacob love triangle that enthralled a generation of Subaru-driving soccer moms confirmed that she won’t be revisiting that tale any time ever.
In an interview with Variety, the writer said of the supernatural material, “I get further away every day. I am so over it. For me, it’s not a happy place to be.”
That said, the window to her world of vampire love isn’t totally closed. She is interested in giving fans an epilogue in a rather surprising fashion.
“What I would probably do is three paragraphs on my blog saying which of the characters died,” she said. “I’m interested in spending time in other worlds, like Middle-Earth.”
Currently, Stephenie is spending her creative energy on being a producer; she is credited as one on the last two Twilight pictures and an adaptation of her novel The Host. She is also producing a Jane Austen-inspired comedy starring Keri Russell, Austenland, out this Friday.
