'Jeffersons' Actor Remains On Ice While Judge Determines Kinship

On July 24, Sherman Hemsley, the actor who played George Jefferson on “The Jeffersons” passed away.

That was over a month ago, but now the actor’s body is still sitting in a freezer while a random Philadelphia man claiming to be his brother is challenging his will!

For starters, is it normal for a dead body to sit in a funeral home for a month!? I don't think so.

Hemsley was unmarried, but his partner of 10 years and the woman he named as his executor in his will, Flora Enchinton told Hollyscoop exclusively that Sherman is waiting in a freezer until the court decides if this random guy is truly his brother and who gets possession of Hemsley's body.

“This is sad and just crazy. How sick is this? This person contesting this and not allowing Sherman to be laid to rest. This is very confusing to me. I am very distraught and very angry. This man claiming to be his brother has never ever been mentioned to me by Sherman,” Flora says.

According to Flora, the random guy claiming to be his brother probably wants a cut of his “Jefferson” money.

“This is about money. You cannot put a monetary amount on Sherman,” says Flora, “This man is taking advantage of Sherman because he cannot speak.”

But the strangest thing is that Flora has never even heard of the man claiming to be Sherman’s brother.

Hemsley played George Jefferson on both “All in the Family” and “The Jeffersons.”
