Jake T. Austin, former “Wizards of Waverly Place” actor and co-star to Selena Gomez, was named in a four-car hit-and-run that took place in Sherman Oaks, California at 3 a.m. this morning.
A 2010 Audi with New York license plates hit three cars parked alongside the street and caused serious vehicular damage.
According to the official incident report, the Audi which caused the pileup is registered to the 18-year-old actor, but it remains unclear if he was driving it at the time.
Witnesses told TMZ that the driver—described as a young white male with dark hair—left in a car service before cops arrived at the scene. He reportedly appeared very drunk; also noteworthy is that a passenger was seen throwing a bottle of Ciroc at a nearby residence away from the wreckage.
Jake wasn’t there to greet cops, if he was even involved at all, which is what police are currently investigating.
Digging further into Jake’s record, TMZ learned that just last month on October 8th, Jake was arrested for a DUI involving the same car. After being stopped for driving without his headlights on, the officers smelled alcohol on his breath and administered a field sobriety test, which he failed. His court date for that episode was to be brought to a judge tomorrow, November 20th.
Jake currently stars in “The Fosters” on ABC Family.
