Don Imus announced this morning that he has prostate cancer. He broke the news on his radio show Imus In the Morning, saying he was in stage II with the illness.
He sounded hopeful though, saying that he was sure he would beat the disease.
He told listeners, "The day you find out is fine. But the next morning when you get up, your knees are shaking. I didn't think I could make it to work."
He didn’t offer up any other details about the illness. As you may recall, this is the first we’ve heard about Imus since his infamous radio incident in 2007 when he referred to the Rutgers women’s basketball team as “nappy headed hos.”
Unfortunately that continues to leave a bad taste in people’s mouths, so many people probably wont be too sympathetic to hearing this news.
But we do wish Imus a full recovery, and hope that he’s right about his doctors being able to help him beat it.
